Gendarmes on the circuit, Friday,

Hi everyone. Just been on the circuit, well what I could go on. Gendarmes have put road blocks on Mulsanne corner, and if your car looks anything suspicious for speed tell you you cannot drive to Arnage in that direction. I went round and came back past the main enclosure. When I got to Arnage corner I wanted to do a left then see if anyone had arrived, as today is the day everyone parks up. No Gendarme waved me on.

Looks like the traditional park up between Indenapolis and Arnage won't happen.

They have ruined it for eveyone if this is the case.

I guess everyone will block the main RN138, direction Le Mans, by the restro and bar.

Yup. I went past there are 8:50 local time and the road from Mulsanne to Arnage was road blocked at both ends. The bar stewards. Got up early especially. Now I have a whole morning to kill. Is there an alternative meet on?

All I can suggest is the bar along towards Le Mans, just after 'The Family Village'. Generally everyone goes there anyway, but the cops move you on. Real pain, and the weather is shite too....

The Classic British Welcome in St Saturnin is always a good spot to meet on a Friday. This years 'theme' is Healeys, so expect to see a lot of them, plus loads of other classics.

Last year the drivers of 4 F40's and an F50 popped in to oogle the other cars

Started already and goes on all day, ending with a parade leaving around 4.30pm.

they seem to be clamping down every year. Personally recently I've been boycotting it through protest at Diesel racing ... as soon as a petrol powered car wins again I'll be back ! I rarely see much of the race like many I'm sure but it's still important to have a good mix of different cars battling out for the lead. Since going in 1995 for the first time I've found it has lacked variety.

I've always thought the French let us get away with rather a lot - lets hope they haven't been on training courses with UK force...

Veloce is spot on the cicuit gets more like Stalag Siverstone every year,My first year was in 1982 and it has now completely changed as regards Spectator veiwing, all for the worse.

Too much corporate boocks now and too many alcoholics who drink themseves to oblivion the whole weekend.

Also agree the Gendarmes are VERY understanding considering the ignorant oafs they have to contend with.

Arnage on Friday night and Sat morning was a ghost town

the circuit was pretty empty at 5am and Tertre Rouge was deserted at 3am

only benefit was they've taken down the tarps at the Chinese Restaurant and I found a very, very nice spot to spectate at the Porsche Curves

You found a nice spot? Every time I went there it was COVERED in people (mostly drunk and loud and falling over in the mud).

Curse my relative new-ness to le mans and not knowing the good places to go!

Well over for another year. Today the weather is lovely. Clear skys, and a maximum of 26'c. The course is back to normal and roads are empty. The fields are empty full of litter, and loads of empty bottle. Good show lads, keep it up. I'm looking forward to next event the LM story in July. So the win for Aston in their catigory will hopefully bring even more lovely motors next year. My 2.8i will be about again as this year, and hopefully my Mk1 also, when I fix the brakes.

Me mates have returned back home to our glorious country and will be checking out Goodwood this weekend, I'll be at Tours for the GP de Tours.

Back to the 24hrs. I Hope the weather is better for 2008, and them blasted Gendarmes leave the roads open for petrolheads to park up along by Arnage and Indinapolis.

I heard that on Thursday some tt killed wither himself or worse still someone else whilst being a dick in the wet on the stretch between Mulsanne and Arnage hence the reason that stretch of road was closed as the Gendarmes didn't want a repeat.
