Booking for Le Mans Classic 2008

We're looking to take a group of 20 cars down to the classic race next year so I'm starting to look into how we'd go about doing it...
We always book Le Mans through the car club, but they don't do the classic race so we're on our own this time around and would appreciate any advice.
I presume joining Club24 is the way to go, but they don't seem to mention the classic, is this a good first step?

I *think* the ACO do discounts for group bookings anyway, regardless of Club 24 membership which seems to be for the main race.
Tickets, ferries, etc. could all be done as group bookings with a party of 20 cars and I doubt camping is anything like as big of an issue.
Just give the ACO a call - there's usually someone there who speaks really good English and will be happy to assist.

Even for camping?Guessed that general entrance would be the same as regular Le Mans, but want to ensure we've got the other bits, such as car park and paddock passes sorted before-hand ideally, otherwise as an organiser it'll be a nightmare for me until we get there and everybody has their tickets.
We're staying in a hotel, but the hard-core few of us will camp for the race while the rest park elsewhere I think...

We bought all our tickets direct from the ACO this year, and saved a bundle on agents fees. Just check the website out, and select the English version. Courier by UPS was Euro16 on top of the face ticket prices. No need to join up at all.I'm tempted by the Classic race, as I hope there are more genuine car enthusiasts there and fewer chavs.

I think this may be on the cards next year (degree commitments mean LM will probably be a bit too late in the final term) - does anyone know anything about getting to drive the full circuit? Im told you can buy a lap or so and drive pretty much anything? (we'd be in a modern classic TVR Cerbera 4.5

I remember that the following time it ran we tried to book into a nice, nearby hotel but once the froggy owner realised something was on for that date he called us up and cancelled the booking - so we ended up not going.
On the trip above we stayed in a really horrible cheap cheap cheap hotel (as the pics show).
Would certainly be up for doing it next year trying camping as per regular Le Mans. In 2002 (first year of the Classic LM), there were only about 5 people camping in the whole place and it looked kinda eerie!

Ah, there is quite a story attached to the booking of hotels in 2002. Some rather iffy members of the ACO management went out and block booked loads of hotels under a brand new company name for that weekend and shut out every one else. The hotel owners had no idea about the event and were mightily upset I can tell you. In this case it doesn't seem to have happened but he might have had a block booking via the Le Mans tourist boards at better rates! I know that I have already booked 25 rooms for 2008 nearly 9 months back and the tourist board have tried to get me thrown out and take over the whole hotel. I am planning to book the whole hotel for 2010 (120 rooms) and let real classic fans have the rooms depending on the car they are driving. The better the car, the more the chance of a room. I don't mean in value here but odd ball classics and interesting stuff in general - no modern Ferraris or whatever. It is 10 mins walk from the paddock too.
