White Rabbit Racing (me) & Pistonheads are getting together to put on something special. There is a lot to do before we can announce the full details but I hope that we will be able to let you all know within the next few weeks.

As you have asked....here's an update.

The ACO have all been on holiday this week so no developments on location just yet. That's all that's holding up the formal announcement on PH. All other plans have been put in place. At the moment it is looking like we'll be on Beausejour which is not ideal but it's fine as long as it's not raining but I will be pushing for a preferable location. Will be doing that next week so when we get the news on the final location I will be able to finally put all the costings together and publish the sale price. If we absolutely have no choice but BSJ, then I will make sure we are close to the front to minimise the walk up to the village.

Camping passes will be priced per car so it matters not how many people you bring. Clearly the price per car is going to be more expensive than a standard ticket but I aim to ensure as cheap a price as I can possibly make it. But it'll be worth it as the facilities we are planning will include:

• Private area for PH/WRR members with access for 300 cars. Approx 15000sqm of space so we certainly will not be packed in. We could fit a lot more cars in there but that would defeat the object wouldn't it!!
• Reserved pitches of approx 45sqm per car - either individually or for groups. No matter what day you arrive you have space waiting for you.
• Fencing & security to keep the gypsies out! Wristband access only.
• "The Rabbit & Piston" Public House with good quality COLD BEER (not the watered down crap you usually get down there!)
• Screens up showing the race action
• Catering offering bacon butties in the morning and a good quality BBQ in the evenings so you won't need to keep fighting your way to and from the supermarket!
• Toilets and showers within our area (tbc)
• Will also look into a courtesy shuttle bus for our lot as well.
• Mad Friday party from 10pm ish (details tba)
• Car graphics competition (public vote)
• Charity Raffle

We have an agreement agreed in principle with a travel partner who will be able to sell you your camping place and ferry as a package. The plan is to put massive convoys together on a single crossing Dover/Calais on Weds/Thurs/Friday mornings with group return on Sunday/Monday evening. They also sell GA & grandstand tickets however, if you buy your GA tickets at Le Mans itself you will be entitled to the White Rabbit Racing group discount which should get you about 6€ off each one. Not a lot but something's better than nothing isn't it.

I have already had a lot of emails from PH members wanting to get their names down so please keep them coming. It's going to be awesome even if I do say so myself. Any suggestions you would like to make are welcome too! It's your camp as well!

Double check with the girls at the ACO that you are not forced to have a marquee and loo facilities supplied solely from the approved suppliers list.
It can get very expensive if they do insist.

Just to say - I was with the WR crew last year, on my innaugural (sp?) Le mans trip.

Despite events conspiring against us, the shit weather, the dodgy campsite, etc, Guy made sure it all went smoothly for us, provided what I thought was great VFM, and was expecially useful to us Le Mans virgins, made me and my group very welcome.

I have every faith in 2008 being even better, especially now he is teaming up with PH.

I will be there, on the WRR camp, guaranteed.

Hi E36Guy.

I have stayed at BJ the last two years running. This year I noticed your camp hiding away at the back of BJ and met a few of the gate staff (or what ever you call them!). Were very nice to talk to, showed me the way to a certain straight which happens to be right behind you, good planning that one. I also went to the straight with some kids camping with your group (sorry don't recall their names).

I have to say that it looked like you had a very good set up going on, helpful and friendly people at the helm.

I would be interested in this but I'm not 100% on staying BJ for a third time running. The previous two years I have booked so late that I had no option but to stay in BJ.

2006 was a 15 min walk in the baking sun!
2007 was a 15 min walk in the pouring rain!

So this year I think I'll try to stick to a 5 min walk into the main section.

If you are allocated space nearer to the main village section then I'll get the wallet out.

Not ideal, but even getting a spot at the near end of Beasejour (near the bus terminus) would cut down the walking by 5 minutes / half a mile at least.

we're bringing pushbikes to get around on...and a bloody huge lock and chain...not that my rust bucket is worth nickin!

so if you see a paif of 30 something clowns doing a poor job of pulling wheelies around the camp site you know who they are.

I understand how BSJ can put people off, I wasn't too hot for it last year to be honest. I went with Guy's group because it was as good an option as any other, although slightly pricier. What a good decision that was! I got talking to people on the WRR Forum, and we first met up for a convoy from Dover, drove down together and spent the entire time in a very friendly campsite, where it felt like you knew the guys you were camping with all along. Even though it rained most of the time, even though it was one hell of a walk to the village everytime, it was by far my best Le Mans ever, so much better than finding a pitch whenever you arrive and feel kinda lost for the first day or so.
I wouldn't do Le Mans any other way I think... If you have a tight group that you go down with, with a set campsite and pitch, of course keep with what you know and like. If it's one of your first time and you don't know what to expect, I cannot recommend it enough...
