The new tramway opens 18th November

For the last week here at le Mans they have been running impressive photos in the local paper of the new tramway system shown from the sky. Sadly I can't find it on the net but I can assure you it is a marvel. The terminus is at Tertre Rouge and it is about £1 each way to the centre of town. The whole of the town square has completely changed and is now a pedestrian precinct. It will make your lives much easier on the Friday!

Place de la Republique. With you zimmer frame about 10 minutes, but for normal people about 2.

Here's a map of the route. It terminates at Antares and the journey from the University to Antares should take around 35 minutes.

Looking at that map, the bus routes have changed also, with the one from the Cemetery near the circuit now going even more round the house than before.

Anyone know what sort of hours the tram runs?

The tram runs from 5am to 1am every 4.5 minutes normally but for Le Mans and Classic Le Mans I am hoping its around the clock like the bus does for the main Le Mans.

Bloody typical though. A sharp frost Monday morning and the electric wires arced. Not one tram could get out of the sheds.The cost so far is £35 million and rising and hardly a penny from the state. I'm just glad I live a bit out of Le Mans I do not pay Le Mans council taxes! Not one tram is in actual service but already two have had accidents with cars. Last week I had the pleasure of seeing a woman go straight round the roundabout at Carrefour despite the flashing red lights and get cleaned up by the tram. She wasn't even blonde.

That's handy, Saturday afternoon I can strole down to the Chinees, then later in the evening continue down the N138 to the Hotel Aubauge.

Hopefully the car headlamps will light my way.
