Hi Guys

Last year we travelled to Le Mans via The Pyrenees and Bordeaux.

1000s miles of good, speed camera free European roads, 4 major climbs in the Pyrenees ( Col Du Portulet - 1794m, Col D'Aubisque - 1709m, Col Du Soulor 1474m and Col Du Toumelet 2115m). Arriving at Le Mans in good time for 1st practice/qualifying session.

The trip was so successful we are doing the same next year and you are invited to join us. To keep administration to a minimum, I a limiting the number of guest vehicles to around 3 or 4. Reservations will be on a first come - first serve basis.

Currently we have my Noble and a friend's RX7.

The basic structure of the journey will include:

Friday 6th June - 21:15 - Depart Portsmouth to Bilbao
Sunday 8th June - 08:00 - Arrive Bilbao
Sunday 8th June - 18:00 - Arrive Hotel Le Picors - http://www.hotel-picors.com/val_azun.html
Monday 9th June - 18:00 - Accomodation in Pyrenees or Bordeaux region (see above - TBA)
Tuesday 10th June - 18:00 - Accommodation in Bordeaux region
Wednesday June 11th - 15:00 - Arrive Le Mans

On Monday 9th / Tuesday 10th June, there is some flexibility in terms of either extended mountain climbs in The Pyrenees or a day relaxing in the Bordeaux region of France. This might include a trip to St Emilion, or maybe a drive to Arcachon on the south west coast. Since the trip will be a major event in all participants' calendars, I feel the decision should a majority one from those attending. Once we have a list of attendees, details of the options will distributed for further discussion.

Monday 16th June - Return to UK via Le Havre.

Expected cost of both ferry crossings is currently £435, 3 nights accommodation approx. £50 per night.

To be included please PM me or email to peter.gidden AT sbits.net confirming your interest, full names of travellers, addresses, DOBs, and car details, and arrange for a £500 deposit to be paid to me by early next week. This may appear short notice, however the Portsmouth-Bilbao ferry cost has already risen by £30 in the last 3 or 4 weeks.

You can either:

Send your deposit to me - details on request

Bank Transfer - details on request

PayPal - details on request - please add 4% for PayPal surcharges.

To avoid further ferry price increases, I intend booking within the next 4-7 days.

Tickets for Le Mans are not included as I know most of you will have alternative suppliers, and any deposit paid will not be refundable. However most ferry companies will allow transfer at a small cost.

Regards

Peter Gidden

That sounds an awesome trip. I won't be going as I'll be riding down on my new tourer 375-miles over three days there and back is enough for me!
