Still 34 places to fill though. I quite agree, they give the LMP1's a good run in the ALMS so step up and come over here for the 24hr. Surely they must have been invited by the ACO due to their P2 wins in the ALMS?

In reality they would not be a serious threat to the LMP1 cars at Le Mans due to the average speed of the circuit.

They win so many races in the US due to the circuit lay out where a nimble and reasonably fast car can challenege, btu down the long straights of Le Mans they would just get blown into the weeds.

If they could challenge for an overall win I think they would come, but there really is little competition in the LMP2 class, which is generally won by who lasts the longest rather than whose fastest, a sad reflection on the category but true in my few years experience of Le Mans.

So if your category has o real challenge, and the overall is out of reach what is there to go for ?

No Binnie Motorsports in LMP2 this year, that's a shame after their performances in the last couple of years.

Looking at the list it's only got one entry from Aston Martin, this will surely be the usual 007 and 009 entries as per the norm. And there's no other AMR Labre cars or the JLOC Lambo, hopefully these will all be on the start line. It's a shame the Oreca Saleens won't be there in the GT1 category to split up the Aston v Corvette battle.

Binnie's daughter is ill, so no racing in 2008, quite understandably.

The ALMS LMP2 rules are slightly different to those used for Le Mans and offers additional performance to these cars which they don't get in Europe.

Pretty sure that there will be around 3 or 4 Porsche Spyders at Le Mans this year - there are a few teams running them in Europe this year and I'm sure I read in a recent Autosport that the team Jos Verstappen is driving for will be taking at least one car to La Sarthe.


On a slight tangent, I'm not sure if the Honda (Acura) supported teams in the US are going to do anything about Le Mans this year or if they'll just stick with the ALMS, but with Alex Wurz signing as a test driver for Honda it could be interesting to see what he ends up driving at Le Mans (given that it seems very likely he'll be there this year).

There will be two, a Dutch one with Jos Versatppen and a Danish one run by John Nielson. Porsche are apparently working on a low downforce package for the RS Spyder to speed it up at LM. Similarly Audi are working on a high downforce package to improve the R10 for the twisty ALMS tracks.
