Google Map with all the sights and info...join in?

Just been playing with Google Maps and I've got an idea to make a map teeming with pictures, videos, useful info etc. My original idea was to use it to plan our trip this year (and sell the trip to a mate who's wavering!) but with enough work I think it could be useful to everyone.

If you've not used it before it's very easy to add stuff to and is great because you can use it get driving directions, link to other sites etc.

What do you think? - Click here then click on the icons for pictures etc

Anyone fancy contributing? Or has this been done better somewhere else?

Anyway, thats enough for tonight, I'm off to bed!

No, not my vid (I wish it was!), but the pics are mine.

Not sure about Google Earth itself, but you can click a button to see satellite pics of the area.

Steve, guess you mean me...I don't mind at all - I would have done it if I'd known how!

Anyway, have put 3 more on now that I know how - you are welcome to change, delete etc as you wish. Owen

Yes it does, look at the top right for 'View in Google Earth' click it, then save, GE opens, don't forget to save your places before you close.
You should end up seeing something like this...

Actually the Google map search is a bit crap isn't it? I can't find my own map with it, despite it being public, so no chance to find anyone elses.

Ok, I'm new to this - how do you play the videos on Google maps, and how do you add other images???

I've looked and looked, and can't work it out.

Hi Eugene. The videos should just be visible like the pictures. They're embedded YouTube vids so if you're at work you may find they're blocked.

If you want to add stuff you need to setup a Google account it seems, then let me know your email and I'll send you an invite.
