Opinions on Beausejour/Tribune 20?

Hi - for reasons that i won't go into we haven't managed to get places at Houx Annexe for it's final year - we're being offered Beausejour. I can see that it's further out, but other than that have no idea what it's like. After several years of Houx Annexe are we going to be disappointed? Have to admit, the fireworks and roundabout lunacy had started to get a bit too extreme anyway, just don't want to be stuck in a bog (if it rains again!) or regret our location. We're happy to walk off a few beer calories to see the racing, but are the facilities at least up to the crap ones at Houx Annexe?

Also, for grandstand tickets they're proposing tribune 20. Is this a good location to see the action?

Tribune 20 (Leonard) is a decent location. Not far from the finish line. I would be happy with it.

You will be ok on Beausejour, it just means a bit more walking if you want to see a lot of the track as most people do. Essentially you will need to do a bit more planning, as you won't be able to just wander into the Village whenever you fancy it.

How many cars in your group? If you aren't a big group there are still plenty of other options apart from Beausejour you know. Beermountain.com has a list of agencies, most are still selling tickets, some cheap, some not so cheap.

There is a shuttle "train" from BSJ to the circuit which helps. Last year it was amazing where we were in BSJ, it didn't get boggy just drained the water away very well.

Yeah and from BSJ you don't tend to make lots of repeat visits to the circuit during the day.. Head up in the morning and back in the afternoon..

OK guys, thanks for the feedback, had to confirm so just went for it. All in all it sounds OK, but I might have to take out ACO (?) membership to get improved service next time round.

Nope you need to transport yourself back 25 years and start ordering tickets from the ACO!! That way you've got a chance of getting yourself on the "Magic List" which will give you preferential treatment now!

BTW - I'm being serious!

ACO membeship gives you no advantage over getting an allocation of tickets. You can try booking early - week before the race for the next year but I did this and still got allocated BSJ rather than my first, second or third choice!

Well you were lucky, we were in Beausejour being constantly asked if we could tow people out of the bog in the Viper Truck!!!!! Thats the Last Time im going on that crap site again To make things even worse there, the ACO decided to give the Danes there own entrance! This made the entrance and exit from the site a total joke! The jobs worth security were totaly unhelpfull in that wonderfull French way Such was my fury over this situation I have decided not to give the ACO my cash this year. I personally think the Village area at Le Mans has been TOTALY RUINED Its gone the way of F1 and a lot of the character and history has gone down the pan. RANT OVER!

Beausejour is like a council estate in a nice area. Best avoided. I saw a Corsa and a Saxo there last year, these people have no respect. Nuff said...........

Beausejour was a swamp last year.. don't get me wrong- we had good time but it made me thing of what trenches must have been like at Somme...especially after the coaches had tried to get down there and had to be dragged out by the big mudplugger tractors....

Had it not been 'a wet one' I sure it would have been great, however this year we're going in TLs private enclosure..

We usually sit in Trib 16- opposite the pit lane exits..

Hmmmm - you guys are making me think twice about taking the porker to Le Mans if Beausejour is a bit dodgy. Maybe wifey's 4x4 or the golf dustbin would be better bets....

Last year was the worst for weather in 20 years. So maybe this year will be amongst the best.

It was one year of bad weather and the ACO had problems in other places not just the BSJ site. I am told they are working on drainage improvements this year and I will survey that for myself on Friday when I'm down there.

Previous years on BSJ have been just fine. No-one can control the weather.

Last year we had the Atom there and had NO problems at all. A porker should be fine

Still roughly topic so only a mild hijack! Anyone have experience of Bleu Nord? My first choice of MB became an allocation for BSJ, which I accepted and paid for, but on the paperwork I also for some reason seemed to be on a waiting list for BN. I didn't fully understand this (as I never requested either site as a choice) but now have received an offer to pay the extra few Euro to secure the BN allocation instead. I was on MB last year and enjoyed that setup (despite the rain) - which is the better deal, BN or BSJ, I've no experience of either?

I am looking at going with Speed Chills, as they appear to have showers, loo's, live music friday, breakfast and evening meals etc...

Is there a better option available. I dont want to be miles away from the action, in a flooded field!

Any options / advice gratefully recieved.

We had absolutely no idea what we were letting ourselves in for but i have to say without them it would have been a complete disaster especially with the weather and lack of space for equipment in the westfield. Good food and drink, great atmosphere and alround great advice from the enthusiastic staff. I think they have upped the offer for this year with their private camping but also the price but its really a no brainer for a first trip in my opinion. The White Rabbit Racing/Piston Heads offer is also along the same lines so that might be worth a look.
One negative is that its not the closest to the track although watching at night through the porsche curves (10 mins away) is impresive. 30 mins walk to the main entrance.

Looks like i am in the position you were lst year! Excited, yet dreading the prospect of a wet weekend in a cow pat splattered field in France.

I did look at WRR but they didnt seem to have the same facilities (music, bar, breakfast etc) and they didnt provide Le Mans or ferry tickets. Also, as we are just going as a two, not in a large group thought the social aspect at SC sounded better. Both in same campsite i believe, so I assumed the walk would be the same.

Q. should we be leaving Sunday after the race, or Monday? Does anything happen Sunday night?

From what i saw and most other peoples opinions, don't even think about leaving on the Sunday. It was utter chaos getting out and a lot missed their boats.
We stayed over Sunday night, had a few drinks, watched the Indy GP (although no GP that weekend this year)and set back off on Monday morning, straight out stopping on the way back for breakfast and lunch.

A few idiots driving their cars around on the sunday evening obviously drunk although staying in the enclosed Speedchills camp should get round this. Loads of fire works.

Last year everyone was very friendly and we chatted to some of the staff on the way back on the boat who were great throughout.

This forum gave us loads of ideas in the run up to the week and even through the rain (and no roof on the westfield) we couldn't wait to re-book for this year.
