Mini Motobikes - where are they allowed?

Whats wrong with walking, using the train, using the coaches or using your cars? I've never understood the reason for taking a minimoto - they're annoying, they're a pikey dream, they cost too much and most importantly you look a fool. Nevermind trying to get them into the circuit, I'd hope the people on the gate have enough sense, tell you to leave them outside where they'll be safe - and then ring "a man with a van" to take them to a local car boot sale.
While they don't seem to be banned from the circuit...
1) They annoy the kittens out of everyone: camped near you, that you drive past and cover in dust, that you drive in to.
2) The are NOT legal to use on the public roads and the police will stop you.
3) You look stupid bent over trying to push one back to your camp site while being followed by the police (following 2).
4) People point and laugh at you (following 3 and because of 1).

I thought it was just me hated the things...In the words of the 14 year old camping with us last year "ooohhh look at that fat man on that funny little bike".
There's no way around it, you look stooopid riding one and by the time you've done 14 loops of the campsite you'll be irritating as f
k. On a practical note, your travel insurance probably won't cover you when you leave half the skin off your shoulders on the campsite road.
I'd say from past experience that the general population is split 50/50 between loving and hating minimotos- the people with better cars seem to enjoy them more and those with camper vans/ste french cars dislike them. We've got away with them on the roads before- but not on sunday (though we did have 2 people on the ones that got stopped). And who needs travel insurance- take you're health card thingy and the french ambulance will turn up and fix broken collar bones even when you've highsided one while drunk...

Unfortunately the EHIC card cannot buy you sympathy from people stood nearby as you hold your shoulder in agony, it also doesn't drive your car home while you stay in hospital, won't open your beer if you're in a sling and most importantly everyone who you tell will simply raise their eybrows whilst thinking "why would a 31 year old man be playing with a toy like that...what a tool".

Got to agree. They have had their day and now you just look a tt using them.
Get yourself a colapsable pushbike. Does the same job, legal and doesn't get on everyones elses nerves. Me, I'd much rather stagger!

that's a great sweeping generalisation, you're really funny, that's a form of willy waving right? As Vette says, EIHC (formerly known as E111), only entitles you to reciprocal treatment, you'll certainly end up paying for your journey home or your folks to come out and rescue you. I think it's likely you'd end up paying for drugs/crutches etc. Make sure you've got a credit card with some capacity on it.
A buddy of mine broke his foot on the camptsite a few years ago - had to be flown home separately as we couldn't fit him and his plaster cast in the car.

Yea, hard to get that crate of beer in the passengers footwell if he can't/won't co-operate by sitting all the way back with his knees under his chin!

As said they're definitely not legal anywhere but for the last couple of years we have had go peds to get to some of the more difficult to get to parts of the track. We have gone past police who have not even looked twice at us. (we even passed a few police on the trip to mcdonalds on them and had no issues).
From where we stay (expo) i just don't think it'd be that much fun walking to arnage for the sunrise, on the go peds it takes 10 mins!

You're right my mate didnt get covered home on the EHIC- fortunately he hada passenger who then got covered on his car to get him home.
Fortunatley for us it did buy us sympathy from the large group of dutch/brit expats camped just across from us who were actually the ones who phoned up the french ambulance service for us.
As for the willy waving sweeping generalisation on the cars...I wish!The best car out of the lot that we had was a rover coupe turbo that had seen beter days and is now on the road in the sky....
Granted maybe we do need to grow up but we're not 31 years old yet so we're (probably) going to enjoy being young while we can!

I'm in Houx and don't fancy the walk to Arnage either...but that's why I just jump on the free bus from outside the main entrance!They do have an incredible ability of producing an awful lot of racket for not much go.
Had some camping near us last year, people opposite us brought out the giant slingshot to end that problem.
I think some people love them and buy them. Some people put up with them and accept them as part of the Le Mans thing. Many people hate them and show it.
