The grandstands that you are asking about are on the outfield part of the start finish. Good location if it is another hot year as you will be in the shade. At either end of the Start Finish are large TV screens which keep you up to date with the race, you'll have a better view of the screen from Tribune 16, so maybe go for this. It is one of the stands that are erected just for the race as opposed to a permanent fixture.

Have a look here, http://www.lemans.org/sport/sport/calendrier/pdf/2... page 3, for more information.

You'll have an unrivaled view of the lead up to the race prep, if you can try and see as much as possible. The track goes live from about 09:00 for the warm up, around 10:00 the support race is on, chance to go and get a bit of lunch and then back in your seat for the lead up to the start of the 24 hour race, remember the start has switched to 15:00.

Plenty of action to cheer along to, immediately in front of the outfield grandstands is a standing area where a lot of the regular fans watch the race, ttS, the Dutch like Drinking for Holland etc, The Start/Finish really is the place to be because of the atmosphere and the sound of 55 cars on full chat going between the grandstands.

Don't forget to use your seat through the race as well, especially through the wee small hours and get out to Arnage and Mulsanne viewing areas.

Arnage is quite special at sun up, the race is only half way through with another 11-12 racing still to go. Great place for an early morning coffee and croissant provided by the local village community.

I'm in T16. After much deliberation I decided to trade off a little of the start / finish atmosphere for a good view of the new garages and the big screen. See you there?!

Why do they bother with temporary grandstands still? I mean it must be a huge amount of work to put it up and take it down every year - planning permission regs maybe?

Hey Graham how you doing? Were in T16 Sommer this year. Opposite pit exit, big Screen and where you see them spin into the pits at the end of the race two...Great for start finish watching the pits and them disappearing up to Dunlop.

In Hiux this year near the cafe( if thats open this year!!) MAke sure to pop in for beer and catch up.

Cheers
