Interestingly... at the other end (ie in Le Mans) the sign says "Twinned with BOLTON UK". Even less of a likely link?

I studied in Bolton, it also states twinned with Le mans. I think, from memory it has a Le Mans Drive (or Road or something) too!

Yup, Le Mans is twinned with Bolton and both cities have footy teams in the first division! Just off the main square in Le Mans is "Rue Bolton". This twinning has been in place for donkey's years.
