I have been reading that you must have headlamp converters which you can get from halfords. does everyone do this or not bother ? and if so where on the headlamps do they go ?
what other items are a must have to take, I was told first aid kit but now read that its not compulsary ?

Ermm, RTFI / RTFM ?? wink

They're very car specific so you'll need to look at the instructions which come with them for references to your car, scratch your head, have another look, turn around and look at the car with your head between your legs, read the instructions again and STILL be none the wiser as to where the sodding things are supposed to go....

I've never fitted them yet as they are , if we are honest, only required for night driving and as i'm generaly in the vilage bars at night i don't really need them ! Never seen anyone with them on either. But do take a spare bulb kit and a warning triangle and if your registration plates don't have the european stars and a GB on them then take a GB bootlid badge.
Also take your licence and a photocopy of it (colour) so that if the French police do happen to pull you then you hand over the photocopy. Take proof of insurance cover for European travel (green card) as well as your regular insurance docs, again for just incase you do get pulled over.

Or do what I do. Stick a bit of electrical tape on the surface of the headlamp. Even if they stop you, Le Plod aren't going to know your car well enough to tell you that you've done it wrong.
