Can i assume that this event is held every year? Is this easily accessible by car from the Tertre Rouge end of the Circuit, if so how far is it? Or are the roads to busy? In that case are there any regular buses that run especially to the event? Is the event held at a certain location or i the town of Lemans in general? I have read that it a Ferrari themed event this year. Are there any other attractions that i should be looking out for?

If I goto this on the Friday morning will there be many cars there? or is the afternoon the best time to go? As I would like to go into the town for the drivers parade in the afternoon.

A few words of advice based on my prior grim experience. Ahead of the parade on Friday all the roads in the centre of Le Mans will close round about 3:00 ish, which leads to total chaos: the only way is to drive round the outside of the town centre along with thousands of others. Three years ago my son and I completely forgot this when we were making our way to our hotel in the town centre. I guess it took us around three hours to do the trip from the northern outskirts of Le Mans to the hotel. So, if you're going to the Welcome in the north of Le Mans, which is great, and then the parade in the town centre, and going by car, you really do need to plan ahead. Best maybe to do the Welcome early, get into town and park somewhere by 3:00, have a few beers and then watch the parade, have some more beers...etc...R.

This is the event my friend is taking part in with me as a passenger.
1934 Lagonda Tourer,dark green,taking part in the drivers parade also.
Last year he had Johnny Herbert and crew(plus a dolly bird) to drive around the city.

As usual I'll be there helping out with the parade and so on. This year the featured make is Ferrari and we have some tasty cars on display for you, like this 1979 512BBLM:-



Also a 275GTB 1966:-



There is a jazz band, plenty of stalls, bars, food and like minded people to meet. More to the point it is FREE! Many use it as a staging point on their way in on the Friday but if you are going there from Tertre Rouge then my advice would be to drive straight north into town until you meet the inner ring road (after carrefour and McDonalds), turn left and follow the ring road until you see the Alencon sign. Take the Alencon road and carry on north until you reach St. Saturnin traffic lights where you turn left and then keep going.

The Leaper has given a timely warning though. Arrive early and leave by 2.30pm is my advice if you are going into town but if you aren't going to see the parade it is less of a problem since you take the ring road past the university.

Thanks for that mate So there is plenty of signs to the events and plenty of parking spaces? Is it car parks or streets? Is there good reputation for parking in the area? And finally once in town are events easy to find and are they programs?

Yes - either N138 through Le Mans or use the ring road clockwise.

It's Le Mans in 24Hr week - so yes.

Last year the ring road wasn't too bad around lunch time but the roads closer to the circuit were the usual mare.

Always held in the same place and NOT in Le Mans - it would be the Le Mans Classic British Welcome if it was in Le Mans... Saint Saturin is the first village North of Le Mans on the N138, just past the A11.

There's plenty of parking and usually we have about 1,500 visitors throughout the day on the Friday. It's well signposted but in case you have problems and assuming you have a GPS put these coordinates in to get there:-

48.03 deg 42.07 North
0.09 deg 18.76 East

Tap that into Google earth and you'll see the Hall and the parking behind. Bususes aren't easy so take your car if you with the family and as above my advice is to go in the morning on the Friday and leave not later than 2pm if going into town or not much later if you are going back to your camp site. The alternative is, since you are at Tertre Rouge, to take the tram into the town centre and a taxi from there, especially if you want to go into town and see the parade later. I'm sure if you ask nicely we can arrange a lift from one of the parade cars into the town centre. (this isn't for all and sundry but if there are families with young children we have helped out in the past) This is the 8th year we've held it and it's gone from strength to strength each year. We not only have great cars on display but also a number of interesting visitor's cars too, like F40's and so on. If you want further information just ask.

One final thing: the N138 is now the D338 since the motorway opened. That might confuse a few of you!

FIAT - doesn't that stand for Fix It And Thrash? On a serious note we are trying to reserve a lot of the circle behind the hall for Ferraris (if they don't break down en route) since we have 30 cars from the FOC coming plus the 16 cars going in the parade plus loads of others who have promised to come. Frankly the day is a bit is a moving feast and we'll do the best we can since people arrive and leave but the majority of the circle we want to keep for the Ferraris. We know how precious the owners are and how worried about their cars rusting too. I mean, just look at mine before the rain:-

Just turn up, go where the marshals point you and enjoy it - it's nice and relaxed and informal (which hides some very professionally organisation).

No, that IS in Le Mans - around the old town, up top the hill.

Basically hit the CBW early door, have a chilled-out wander looking at the cars while eating lunch. Head back to the camp sites, grab the beer and catch the tram/bus/taxi in to the old town for the DP.
