This Tertre Rouge camp site crime thing is bothering me guys
Discussion
Ever since i read a couple of weeks ago that the camp site has been known to attract thief's who pinch out of tents. It has been really bothering me
Last year i was at the Karting Nord site and there was security at the gates and no problems within the grounds. Is there no site security or officials on the Tertre Rouge?? Were do the thief's come from, the out side of the camp or the other campers? How bad is it? Very bothered about this.

I've never been to TR, always been in Maison Blanche which is right next to the Gen Entrance. You can't get in there unless you show your pass - well, until the race finishes then it's a free for all.
Don't be going thinking that every time you leave your tent there is a queue forming to rifle through your dirty kecks!

Haven't actually stayed in TR but have been in Bleu Nord and Beausejour. Both have had security on the gate which have wanted to see passes as you come and go in vehicles, not nesseccarily(sp) people on foot though, so potential thieves may get in that way. Best thing we have found is to not leave valuables around and to make friends with your neighbours. You soon get used to who is who and if a strange face appears on your/their patch you get up and have a look at what they are doing! It seems to work, we haven't had anything nicked so far although they did find a pikey a few years ago which the Dutch group 'dealt' with!
Only thing to watch is after the race has finished, the gate staff tend to disappear and the pikeys desend!

This will be our third year on TR. Never had a problem (apart from some t**t crashing his daddies Land Rover into a tree at high speed).
Facilities are always good and there is security on each of the entrances. When you leave they give you a ticket and when you come back you give it back to them. No ticket no entry. I'm sure the odd person gets through but if you follow the simple rules then you should be OK.

This will be our 5th year on TR, one of the things we like about it is that you need to show pass-out to get onto the site, whereas at many of the other sites anyone can wander on. Obviously nothing is 100% but we generally leave a fair amount of non-valuable gear lying around in our gazebo and haven't had a problem yet.
Talking of TR, I've still got a spare pass, and 4 spare general admission tickets going and am open to offers.

Those Pikeys just don't put the passion into the humble art of stealing anymore ! Last year, just because it rained, not a Pikey to be seen in BleuNord, the lazy urchins ! I always look forward to throwing a bog roll or 2 at them !
Er where were you? we were invaded by them on the sunday night and some were firing beer bottles at them via a homemade slingshot
I don't think its as bad as your fearing. TR is past the ticket barriers so is pretty secure.
I was in MB last lear and we got some chairs pinched and a mobile phone, but I'm sure this was by Brits not pikeys. It only really happened because my mates are idiots ant thought they could leave everything lying around when we wern't there and it wouldn't get knicked.
The chairs were left on the bank accross from our pitch all night for instance and the phone was left on the table next to where people walk past all night.
As` long as you don't leave stuff on display you should be fine and put your valuables in your car.
