These camp site fiascos really piss me of. When one pays for a ticket one should get a bloody pitch. No excuses no b
ks just the pitch that is PAID for. If there is 1000 tickets there should be 1000 places. Any seated concert did what the Le mans camp sites do then the trading standards would be on there case. Pisses me of

Yep, totally agree with you, I was pissed off enough with the traffic when we received a phone call to say it was full!!
They need to stop people marking off 40 acres...
Should have gone to Maison Blanche chum. After years of people roping off the equivalent of 20 pitches for 2 caravans and 1 car, the ACO got tough and marked them all. If you wanted 20 pitches, you had to buy 20 pitches. Result? All those selfish fools went elsewhere leaving MB looking 3/4 full, and that was on saturday. There seemed to be a higher nice car to caravan ratio than in previous years which made it even better. There was literally loads of space, we got 2 pitches and ended up with loads of 'dead' space, which we have happily let someone pitch up on or use.They need to stop people marking off 40 acres...
Such a good idea by the ACO, it made me wonder why they hadn't done it in previous years. I expect it to be fully packed out next year though.
They also totally screwed up Blue South Camping
We turned up Wednesday lunchtime when the site was pretty empty, only to find the Camping Zone we were supposed to be in (Zone M) didn't exist
The Marshals decided to totally abandon the the zone numbering system & tried to get everyone to camp next to each other so there were no single pitches left isolated in the middle
This also was a cock up as people who turned up who did have their pitch marked correctly obviously camped where they were supposed to according to their ticket, leaving big areas of space all around them
Lots of people getting very angry & shouting at Marshals
There was loads of spare camping space which didn't get used
Revert back to old system I say, apart from camping areas next to the track where there isn't much room (Maison Blanche, etc)
We paid for 5 pitches & couldn't camp where we should have been able to(better spot)
Totally unimpressed!

When our advanced party arrived in Houx, our 'neighbours' had stolen two of our plots because "that's there the marshalls told us to camp !!". Right.....ks just the pitch that is PAID for. They were newbies and clearly hadn't realised that we camp in Houx in order to guarantee a marked plot, but it was there insistence of being right which pissed people off. They were moved in the end, but why make life miserable for others ??
Next year we're going down early with posts and barrier tape - to mark off OUR plots and ONLY our plots !!

This sort of annoys me a bit though. I fully understand why you do it (genuinely), but as a car enthusiast it presents a barrier to me and puts me off looking at the cars or talking to the owners. I saw a bloody lovely TR6 in MB and would like to have spoken to the owner of it, but the tape around their enclosure gave out the message that I wasn't welcome.Strange but true.

The Marshalls were telling people to camp on other peoples pitches in Blue South, so it is possible the guys who 'stole' your pitches were telling the truth....
We always rope off our bit of campsite, through past experience we have found this is the only way to be sure of some plonker not putting his tent up 1-inch from your tent entrance or moving your BBQ & sticking their tent right on top of your cooking area, cheers!
Unfortunate we feel the need to do this, but does tend to save friction with the neighbours

We arrived on Houx on the Tuesday morning and were being directed onto the plot behind the one we were supposed to be using! It took three goes to convince the chap on the gate that we were right…
Still nice enough guy and he did relent and let us bring the motorhome in for the Tuesday night so the old man could have a few beers with us and a relax before the madness started on Wednesday.

Also got worse when they changed shifts, they didnt bother to tell the next guys starting their shifts about what was going on
One lot told us the numbering system had been abandoned, yet the next day i still saw Marshalls trying to help people find the pitch on their ticket

We got to our usual camping site of the last 15 years or so, Houx Annexe on thursday pm, only to find it completely chocca as it had been made smaller. We went round to the south entrance in the end and the campsite officials said that as Annexe was full we could camp in the Houx. Found a un-numbered spot up against the MotoGP circuit mound and had a fantastic time. Very peacefull(ish) compared to what we are usually used to. So, I for one, cant complain, it all worked out great.
We had tickets for blue nord x 3. They were not numbered pitches the last time we were there, we gave passes to marshalls who directed us to somewhere totally different to what was printed on tickets. We questioned this for an hour with marshalls who said for us to park here as we had motorhome. We thought blimey some forward thinking, only to find that the guys next to us had been given hard standing to pitch a tent up on...how does that work.
It was a fiasco in the end as we found out as then the people with plot numbers where we were parked turned up late friday demanding us to move....what do you do. Had there attitude been better we probably would have or at least helped them with the marshalls.
There was no way we had three plots size wise. We got the impression that the marshalls were not told that the plots were numbered.
I think that we should ALL stick to our numbers regardless, i am sure that would ease the confusion.

Ah yes, but sticking to your number was impossible on Bleu Sud where whole letters of the alphabet had been missed out. We were directed to a "pitch" that was barely bigger than my car so refused and following much Gallic shrugging from the, clearly apathetic, marshall we just chose somewhere and pitched. Apologies if someone was put out but noone approached us to move or even questioned our location. There were spare (albeit small) pitches on our site too.
THe numbered plots on MB worked well.. but lots of empty pitches. Was this due to the ACO C0ck up though... getting the map upside down and only letting people know a week in advance?
I was on HA last year and we tried to cordon off space, but still got people caming infront of out cars making supermarket rund impossible... suppose I could have just run over their tents! <evil>

We too did MB this year. First time at MB and the numbered pitches worked for us, but the girl on the push bike could not find them for us, so we found them ourselves.

But on Sunday as we returned from the race, a pair of French lads returned to find their tents gone! Nothing left at all!
He was not happy, and drove round the site looking for the culprits as our neighbour had seen something and gave a description of the van.
Do hope he caught them, as he was a BIG lad!
