Where is this place?
People say "stereotyping is wrong" If ever there was an advert for the very worst of the UK the "MEATHEAD" post surely typifies all that is bad about our country.
IMO these type people are never far from the edge, just look at the threatening undertones of violence in the thread, the sinister shaven headed "well hard" look is so old hat and humiliating, offering security at the next Le Mans WTF is that about? I would suggest people suffering from the chav/well hard syndrome should look in the mirror and ask what am I going to amount to? what do I look like? why have I no friends or money?,they obviously are very very dim and dont care of peoples opinion, therefore they have no self respect and will end up no further than today. They aspire to no more than theft and drugs and violence,
Le Mans to keep on topic is merely a microcosom of the malaise of the UK in general,I saw these people like most others I was there and just wanted to crawl under a rock, the posters shock at this behavior supprises me,but perhaps most of us at Le Mans come from a better background, just beacause your are,dim poor ect is no excuse to behave like feral dogs,I feel sick to the pit of my stomach hideous people of the gutter, sorry chaps for the rant.vomit

Oh. I was wondering why anyone would start a thread about the town just up the road me from that is actually called "Chaville" - fortunately it doesn't live up to its moniker!

I seem to have managed to avoid the worst of the behaviour at Le Mans - being miles out at Beausejour automatically reduced the aggro, and having the forethought to shut sunroof and windows before going through Arnage reduced the risk of a soaking. That didn't stop the rabid piss-heads from shouting "Waaannnkkeerrr" at me but who cares?

Indeed stereotyping is wrong; it comes in many different forms and - on occasion - derives from the inferences we put on others' communication, especially if it is open to misinterpretation.

The 'security' comments from Meathead were a response to a post of mine: To be fair, he was at his first Le Mans and as he said, coming from a very different world from many people on here, saw certain behaviour and assumed it was 'the norm' for the event.

Whilst that doesn't necessarily condone joining in, the extent of the beer'n'burnouts at the event - especially in some areas - means it would be possible to see the event for just that.

There's an old saying hereabouts: Better to have them inside the tent, pissing out, than outside the tent, pissing in.

If talking to some people like Meathead means they understand more of what Le Mans is about, then they can help turn the tide against the hardcore idiots.

Surely that is something we all want?

It comes across that your very hung up about this subject?!. I know your speaking as a whole, but you are making references towards meathead.
Like i'v said before, i know meathead well and he is a good guy, its very easy to come to conclusions from other peoples opinions on what they saw so in turn i do not comment on things i did not see so i suggest you take a view on that instead of making third hand statements. Ok, they have shaved heads, but so do many people - that does not automatically class them as a chav though does it?!.
As regards to the no friends/thieving and drugs thats ridiculous and they do not live on a council estate.

Do you know what, its not just the chavs. I always used to go out to la Chartre sur le Loir, at the Hotel de France. This used to be the place where the non-chavs went, but now thats all changed.

The hotel was run by an older coupl, Msr Noel Pasteau and his wife. He was a bit lazy but she worked like a trojan, and ran the place like a tight ship. Then she got cancer and died.

The place is now run by their son and his wife, and they sold out, basically. Instead of looking after the VSCC set etc, they went corporate, and pulled in the companies looking to entertain their photocopier salesmen and corporate guests etc. So the old boys who knew how to have a great time in the classy old way left, and the company freebie types replaced them.

They all behave badly, from the company owner/directors down. They all behave the same, they go abroad, get pissed and behave badly. There won't be a shaven head or a water pistol to be seen, but they still don't know how to behave at all.

Why on earth not?

Why not?

Well I was at the Hotel de France in La Chartre s/l Loir Thursday and Friday and I am not a corporate guest neither do I sell copiers.

Had a good time, decent meals and it was great to meet great men like Gijs van Lennep, Jacky Ickx and many other "names" in motorsport there.
The amount of beautiful cars at any moment on the little square was amazing too.

So I don't know what you really mean but then I've only been there the last couple of yours.

I have re read the original post and stand by my sentiments and opinions in respect of the thinly veiled aggresion in the post, like it or lump it most "nice people" dont behave in this manner, though agree that I dont know "meathead" (but have read his posts seen his videos ect)so perhaps a reference to " the chav mentality" would be more correct, if you know him and he is a "nice person" then I stand corrected.I am not hung up I am embarrased and pissed of by the shaven headed hoody wearing feral fraternity lowering the UK into the gutter and then broadcasting their feral behaviour on the net well done!
As I said I was there and did see so am able to comment.
All though it is difficult for some people to understand a forum is to air ones opinions, not be agressive and intimidating, asking to meet up ect, I can see this ending the same as the last topic so will close post shortly!

Luckly most people, do not go OTT and go for the race and a good weekend.
Which still can be had without all this trouble
I still cannot understand, why people want to soak people's cars inside and out.Would they like it done on their cars?.If people are not careful, someone is going to get killed with a knife etc .You never know things look like they a getting out of hand at Le Mans.

Or is it just me?.

We were at the Hotel de France on Friday too, as we have been most years since I started going to Le Mans in 1987. We also stayed there the previous weekend. I even managed to wangle a couple of days there on my honeymoon a few years ago.

In all that time I haven't really seen much of a change or any increased chaviness. People come down, have a meal, look at a few nice cars and have a drink or 3. The worst incident I saw this year was an old duffer in the restaurant at lunchtime who had one too many sherries and treated the rest of the diners to an appalling rendition of 'Singing in the rain'.

I thought it lost a little when the dragon passed away a few years ago but it's still a pleasant hotel with an excellent restaurant and worth visiting to see the shrine to the race. We still think it's a good escape from all the Mad Friday stuff nearer the track with the bonus of bumping into Le Mans personalities like Ickx and Bell.

What are you going on about? I've been staying in Chartre sur le Loir for the last four years and can say it's absolutely fabulous. The owners of the Hotel de France are great and very welcoming as is the local pizzeria owner and her son who loves nothing more than a chat about your car. The people who turn up there every day are totally down to earth and will happily let you sit in their cars and talk to you about them all night long. I've never seen any chavs or rude corporates. The classy old boys still turn up too and are equally down to earth. For my money one of the best little towns on earth and I'll continue to stay there for many years to come.

Meathead and Trix

Both net over £36,000 a year and have there own places and good jobs, jetski's and boats ect ect (not council houses) and come from good "stock" with an avarage education

Both weight train (to look after there bodys not for intimidation purposes and are skinheads as there hair grows quickly (not violent but stand there ground which is what they was doing in the other post)

Both are very very popular people, respected around the area by all ages and sexes for being fun, silly, caring and honest people.

Yes both like doing some silly things which most people will find not normall (i.e the windscreen which was already cracked and was one of there own cars)

"threatening undertones of violence" rather than have 40 people all firing insults at you on a forum was a invite to meet us and discuss in person all your issues and reply face to face (not that they have to, but having people like you on here "ranting on" about things which did not happen makes them want to explaine to the masses the truth, not some warped twisted fiction which your trying to portray of them).

offering security was a joke and I think you need a sense of humour check (there really not interested in looking after peope like you)

Why if you were there are you not posting about the other people that did far worse then them ? why Pick on them ?
and why if you hated it so much stood and watched for so long ?

I think you need to stand back and take a good look in the mirror as to your comments and accusations of theft, drugs and violence and realise your actually the person who's "over stepped the line" and being spitefull and a bully on line is just as bad as the accusations your making about them.

Your comments refelect yourself I think.

fk me.... Cliff Richard gets about a bit

With a bit of luck, he'll spare us the rendition at Wimbledon this week, now he's had a week of getting off his head in Le Mans

I can just imagine him in that restuarant "Two's up on that Charlie, when your done"

About 35-40 minutes South. Down the N138 (or Autoroute), hang a left after Chateau du Loir.
