what's your plan for next years le man?
Discussion
Edit: sorry, spelt le mans wrong.
is it just myself that is planning for next year? and not much else matters? or have the rest of you just got on with your lives and forgot already about this years?
in planning ahead for le mans 09 i've created a new team for le mans 09
it's the 'Don't panic jet bike Team'
so called because a certain someone will be:-
bolting a jet engine to the back of his legendary bicycle that made it 3/4 of the circuit this year without breaking down (if you saw how this bike was held together you'd understand why it's a legend for making it that far)
work has already begun, a friend of mine who built the engine for the bike and jet luge featured on the gadget show is helping me get my own jet engine running again after it had a failure with the guide vane.
crazy i know but i just think a jet engine will out run those pesky kids on gopeds.

I'm sad also,
planning already for a quiet camp at Le-mans as per old traditional style, possibly allowing invite only access for traditionalists, already have 10 people interested, so yes we are also getting ready for next year, can't wait

as seen on the gadget show a couple of weeks ago, engine made by a friend of mine, i won't be using an engine of this size and power though but it'll still be tons of fun.
specs of this engine:-
110lbs thrust@ 95,000RPM.
exhaust temp@ max=550degrees
(yes i know it hasn't got pistons)

I need a jet engine, after watching 5th gear.

Apparently we re-booked for 2009 while we were down there this year when our erstwhile team organiser bumped into the chap from the ticket agency we use !!
Already decided we're going down very early on the Wednesday morning next year, and also on the vehicle I'll be taking.
So, just got to sit here counting the days now....

Going down on the Thursday now, park the car at the Porsche GB club camp site nice and safe. Leave it there next to my tent till I go home on the Monday.
If I go any later, I will have to run the gauntlet to the camp site its safer going a day earlier.

Plan for 2009 is same as 2008
Speedferries 0700 on Thursday
Pitch tent
Spend next 3-4 days loving every minute
Leave after race on Sunday evening, to a suitable F1 north of Rouen
Speedferries back at 1000 on Monday
Looking at the above, I can't understand why it still takes 12 months to plan!

Mercure Le Mans city centre booked from 11th to 14th June 2009 last month. Will work out the rest nearer the time. Nothing much to organise apart from the hotel really. No channel crossing needed for me. No camping passes or equipment to sort out. Just drive down on the weekend, check in and buy a general entrance ticket on the gate.

Please put me down as another interested party. Planning on a tent in an interesting car next year, sod the global warming, but will park up as soon as I arrive and will only start the engine again on Monday morning!!
Glad you liked the joke this morning Dave, where do you buy the Lacoste sleeping bags?
