This question has been asked a couple of times and the general opinion is 13th/14th june. I have booked eurotunnel based on these dates. ACO will not confirm until about November/December.

+1 for 13th/14th June. Nearly always weekend of fathers day. Have booked ferries based on this and haven't been wrong yet!

That seems to be why people are a little confused over the dates. Always 24th weekend of the year (13th/14th June 2009) and always on fathers day (21st June 2009)!

Anyway, 99.9% sure it's 13th/14th. (Eurotunnel will change bookings free of charge if the date changes)

Just Tickets told me yesterday that the date is now confirmed as 13th and 14th. Good news as that's the only weekend in June I can get off work now.

Not wishing to disagree with what has been posted on this forum as I have no special inside information but this is what Scott Atherton said in his "State of the Nation" press conference last Friday at Road Atlanta..........

The American Le Mans Series also races at St. Petersburg, FL (April 4); Long
Beach, CA (April 18); Salt Lake City, UT (May 17); and Lime Rock Park, CT
(July 18). France's 24 Hours of Le Mans, where many of the Series top teams
and drivers participate, is scheduled for June 20-21.

Of course he may have got his dates mixed up............

That does cast some doubt on things doesn't it. As a result I've just phoned Travel Destinations (www.lemansrace.com) who are advertising 13th and 14th June on their web site. The helpful chap on the phone told me that they 99.9% certain of the date. He said they are in constant dialogue with the ACO about various matters and had been told nothing to make him believe it would be on anything other than the 13th and 14th, which would be it's traditional slot. The only thing that would make it move would be a major political or sporting event clashing.

Still not certain then. The question is, can anyone see any reason why it wouldn't be on the 13th/14th?

As I understand it the dates for the 2009 LMS will be released this week, perhaps the definitive date for the 24 Hours will also become clear.

One other factor..........the British GP will be on 21 June...........

...and will start 1-2 hours after the end of the 24hrs, just as it has in previous years when there have been F1 races on Le Mans Sunday (inc. French GP if memory serves).

Which means the 24hr has to start early at midday Saturday then if it's to finish BEFORE the GP starts. Oh the confusion........

The race wont finish til 1500 french time which would mean the grandprix would start at 1500-1600 english time if that were true? I don'r recall a grand prix ever starting that late.

If you check your history you'll find that's not true. You'll also find that the theory that it is always the 24th (or whatever it is) weekend of the year is also not true.

There is no real logic...
