At least the teams have been given longer out this year.
Following the cancellation of the test day on 31st May 2009, the Le Mans week will begin with the traditional scrutineering and administrative checks on the Place des Jacobins in the town of Le Mans itself on Monday 8th June, which will continue on Tuesday 9th June.
The major change for the 2009 race is the fact that Wednesday’s practice session will not be the first qualifying session as in the past. On 10th June 2009, it will be a free test session extended by an extra 2 hours to enable all the drivers to familiarise themselves with the circuit. From 18h00 to 24h00 the teams invited by the ACO will be able to do both daytime and nighttime testing.
The next day, Thursday 11th June, qualifying practice will take place from 19h00 to 21h00 and from 22h00 to 24h00.
Teams, which have received automatic invitations, must send in their entry forms to the ACO before 12th January 2009 midnight to be selected for the 2009 Le Mans 24 Hours; and the entry forms from other teams must reach the ACO by 21st January midnight (subject to acceptance by the Selection Committee).
The final choice will consist of 55 entrants plus 8 reserves who will not be admitted after 22nd May 2009.
