Just gone to book our tickets and all the ticket touts suggested on beermountain.com are saying you need to buy at least 2 general admission tickets per pitch? Whats this all about? was this the same as last year?
As last year we just booked our camp site tickets and ferry. Then those of us that wanted to watch the race just got the general admis. tickets at the turn styles for around £20 i think it was. Ovbously now its become alot more epensive for us to book as your talking just under £300 per car with 3 people in it
And we stayed in Houx Anne campsite last year, which of the other camp sites are simular to this one?

I've been over a dozen times and have always bought my general admission ticket on the gate. If you want grandstand seats though you need to buy in advance
We always buy one GA ticket with each pitch and then get the rest as people arrive/freebies come through.You will need to buy grandstand tickets in advance as said but if it is your first LM I wouldn't bother and, personally, I would leave them out anyway. Sure when you are on your 4th or 5th trip you might like to get one to see all the startline build up and for the different experience but I'm not sure they add enough to the party to be worth the cost.
Don't forget Fleabay. Bought a camping pass for Houx Annexe last year about a fortnight before Le Mans, and my friend bought one the same week. Just buy entrance tickets on the gate.
Word of warning: HA may be worth avoiding as the Chav-ville section is no more, so the undesireables will no doubt spill over!

If your group doesn't want to watch the race then why not go and camp somewhere else for a lads weekend. As last year we just booked our camp site tickets and ferry. Le mans has gone badly downmarket in the 10yrs I have been going, its now full of beered up brit chavs in their amusing matching shirts causing problems (esp at Houx Annex).

It's not difficult to find out which campsites are more likely to be rowdy. Ask anyone on here, look on Beermountain, ask anyone who's been in recent years, etc etc etc...
If you're looking for a more civilised affair, book one of the quieter campsites.
If you know the campsite you're looking at might be rowdy, and you know you're going to have a rubbish time if people act rowdy where you're camping, and you book tickets for that campsite anyway... well, frankly, you're a bit of a muppet.
I must admit that the Chav/Arse element has had a significant part to play in us going in the TL 8ft walled private site. It is inside the GE enclosure area, so no pykies and the general feel is how it was 10 years ago.
It is a shame you have to go exclusive to experience LeMans the way it should be, but I suspect the Arse problems will be moving even more toward BSJ this year as Houx Annexe is reduced in size and more camping has been made available down near the BSJ entrance. And they have their own roundabout to pour piss filled beer bottles over your pride and joy.

A good point! It's certainly an improvement but a definite location to avoid on Friday if possible. This did seem to be a heavy steward pressence last year with the camping entrance but a bottleneck to avoid for sure.Hopefully Tetre Rouge access will keep us well away form the numptys.......until we nip to the bar on Mulsanne for a Friday tipple.

But I wouldn't say HA is full of people who can't handle their drink. It's full of people who like to drink, and some of them can't handle it. I've been going there for years with a big group of mates, and none of us have ever thrown anything at anyone's cars, tried to drive around pissed or anything like that. And I've never seen much of it happening in the campsite either. It's just at the roundabout on a Friday night, which is why a lot of people tend to avoid the roundabout!
If last year was anything to go by, their probably won't be a gathering at the roundabout this year, since the BiB were there in force and pulling guns on anyone who screeched their tyres, let alone tried to do burnouts or drive agressively.

Thanks for all the other advise by the way, its helped alot
It really gets my back up when people classify all HA campers as chav's and idiots. We have camped there for over ten years and have enjoyed many beer's with many good people, yes it's lively, but we like that. Never been to the Houx roundabout or driven through crowds on a Friday so never been attacked by chav's, too busy at the drivers parade in town. Never had trouble with pikey's, we guard are gear and they stay away. Please, it's not all that bad.
