Friday Night - Inner Circuit or Le Mans town???

Hi all,
This year I have managed to rope in another two LM virgins for the 09 trip and I was wondering if it is best to stay on site within the circuit for Friday or go into town.
For the past 5 years I have always stayed on site but keen to hear from anyone with good experiences from the bars in town and what to expect??

Ha! To be honest the singing and shouting has always been in good spirits and part of the crack. It was the thug posturing and physical threats to people who refused to "spin-it" that led me to try out Le Mans town on Fridays. Enjoyed it loads more.

Last year there were some right t**** near the circuit, usual stuff spraying pee on cars and general yobbish behaviour unlike the days when it was just a great laugh to watch the cars that wanted to provide some entertainment.
I think we'll be joiing the crowd at the pub then. You never know might even see some totty.

I've always been a fan of Friday in the old town. You get to (light heartedly) heckle drivers, enjoy a few beers in the (hopefully) sun and eat a well cooked meal!

Unfortunately, in recent years there has been a chav element acting like loons an intimidating drivers in the Place de La Republic in the centre of Le Mans on the Friday night. Town cente is still the best option IMHO, though.

Umm, don't go to Place de La Republic then! A few bars and a McDonalds - there is more to Le Mans you know R.

By the sounds of it my lots have been missing out and we always end up staying on site. Don't get me wrong I'm always up for a laugh and some p*** taking but I don't take too kindly to some of the behaviour from some of arses that were around last year.
This year Le Mans centre is what we will do. So last thing I need from you guys is where are the night clubs?

This does not really help the paying public, but our Friday night does seem to fit in with the 'All Embracing Reason for Attending the Great Race'
We are a multi-national marshal’s post that includes, amongst others:
France
Belgium
Germany
Hungary
Britain
Poland
USA
Oh, and Scotland...
Our Friday nights involve one of the above nations preparing a meal for the Post and a few selected guests.
A fantastic evening follows, the language barrier falls – About equal to the rise in alcohol level.
And all bets are off when the chap who lives next door brings out his home brew!
At the end of the evening I am even talking to the German who is a Corvette fan..

I was in Arnage last year from about 2pm Friday til about 3 am Saturday!I've only ever been there on the Friday, and have had a great time on both occassions.
Supercars showing off in the run up to and from the roundabout - police just let them get on with it so long as they dont take too many runs, or slide it round the roundabout itself.
Then a big old sing song and "band" (some of the locals with drum, trumpet and guitar).
Having seen the disgraceful behaviour of some both on Friday afternoon and evening near the circuit, having had the plaque ripped off my car during the parade by a zombie wearing - I kid not - a Grateful Dead tshirt and union jack shorts plus earings and long blond hair, I know where the best places in town are to quietly enjoy a night out, a good meal, pleasant company and conversation and all. I also know where to avoid the rowdier elements who are there on the cusp of fun and bad behaviour. Where are these places? Damned if I'm telling you - my French friends wouldn't forgive me. No, you have your fun in your way and me in mine, but mine doesn't involve pissing in water pistols, throwing bottles at cars nor jumping on them, no bad language and just a good bit of banter over a civilised bottle and conversation. Long may you stay on your side of town.

I'm just looking forward ot it now, and where ever me and the crowd end up I know that we will have a great time and that we wont be one of the ones pissing on cars or causing general chaos. That said, I'm sure we will be the worse for wear at some stage but without the attitude.
Nice to know that at least some english lads have scored at le mans, legends!
