scenic route extra distance?

Hi, does anyone know the extra distance involved and time involved in using the scenic route from dunkerque to lemans please?

i fancy doing the scenic route down and toll roads back up, this year will be my 2nd year.

Have a look at this. You can drag the route to the roads you want and it'll calculate time etc.

Probably doesn't add a massive amount of distance, but factor in at least double the time, more if you take leisurely stops.

It's a nice way to do the journey - makes the journey part of the experience IMO - but with a fully laden barge it's somewhat less fun

Trying to do it in any sort of convoy is, however, an abject lesson in frustration We once had a journey which was originally intended to be 3 cars, but had swelled to about 8 by the time we got to Folkestone ! There was everything from a VW Golf to a 1930s Bentley. It ended up being a bit like wacky races with the quicker cars hooning off into the distance and the slower cars constantly feeling rushed at all the petrol stops, etc. because all the quicker cars were keen to get going again.

But if it's a nice day, it's definitely the thing to do, especially in an open top sports car

For route planning you can use Tyre which is free It allows you to plot a route on Google and load into your PC-connected TomTom as an itinerary.

There's a Le Mans Points of Interest file kicking around somewhere on the internet too - have a search (not sure where it is sorry)

hard to say how much longer it will be for you. Depends all too much on how much you stop etc !

Small group of classics (MG Midget, MGB & Spitfire). Leave Calais 8.30/9ish get to Le Mans 4ish with an hour for Lunch. I'm a scenic route convert - since the demise of the N138 and the concentration of cars that used to bring the auto-route just doesnt have the same appeal. The drive down is a big part of the weekend for us and french country roads are a revelation. Empty with long straights and beautiful twisty bits.

I have that hosted online.

Le Mans POI - This includes locations of campsites, the local Carrefour/ Super U and Champion, ticket collection points and also parking. I'm sure that there is more in there too.

Sad i know but i have just set thr 'tyre' software giving the direct route from Calais to Le Mans. Now i know it takes two hours but it was fun watching the motor bike ariving in Le Mans.
