Got camping in TR campsite this year as we seemed to spend a lot of our time in the Stella Bar last time........but for the life of me I can't see how we get access.

Looking on Google it appears there's some kind of bridge over the D323 but this could be a footbridge from the TR parking.

It looks like there might be access from behind the Dunlop grandstand but I don't remember seeing cars driving about over there when we were in the cider bar by the bridge.

Any ideas from previous TR folk?

The main access is right by the track at tertre rouge corner, at the start of the mulsanne straight (old n138)

When you arrive ignore all signs and head for the carrfore suoermarket, well sign posted, drive passed the supermarket on the same road as the new tramway and keep going, as you approach tertre rouge corner there is a small roundabout, the third exit takes you onto the mulsanne and is sign posted for camping rouge, go under the bridge and the campsite enterance is imediately on your right.

This route is then reversed for friday evening or trips for supplies.

The vehicular access gate is right by the white cross: http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=47.962428&lon=0...
(Apologies for the old photos, it's all changed now but I remember when it were all fields)

About halfway up that track there is a pedestrian underpass to access the infield viewing area where you can get to the Stella Bar (At least you could last year).

To the West of the site there is access to the Dunlop Bridge area of the Outfield, usually where they put the stage for Sat night gig.

They give you a chit on the way out and you have to present it to get back in.

Thanks for that! I must have driven passed that entrance hundreds of times over the years and never realised that was the site access. Obviously the thought of the next pint of Stella had my blinkers on.

As regards the way to get there, that given above is right through the town centre. Far better to take the autoroute A28 direction Tours and come off where it is marked Zone Industriel Sud or usually ZI Sud. (I think it's exit 24) That is the dual carriageway that will take you directly to Tertre Rouge. Come off where it is marked Tours and you are bang on the spot. A longer way round I know but a lot easier than spending a load of time lost in town.

If you arrive early in the week the gate at Tertre Rouge corner will be locked if previous years are anything to go by, access is by the main gate and driving behind the stands.
We'll be there on Monday lunchtime, team preparations step up a gear with the first rendevous of the year this weekend at the Pirelli rally.
