I need 24 easy questions
Discussion
Last year I took Alfie my son out of school for Le Mans, he utterly loved it and without question got more out of it than 3 days at school (he was 5!).
The school quite reasonably did not grant premission for the holiday but were very happy reading his blog, and looking at his scrapbook.
This year I am feeling a little guilty about taking him out again, (the head said 'no I cannot give you permission, but have a great time') and so I thought I would set him some sort of semi educational tasks and wondered if anyone could contribute anthing sensible (note the word sensible) he is only 6 so nothing overly taxing..
So far I have..
1) How many miles is it to Le Mans from our house?
2) How many miles did the winning car complete?
3) How many times could the winning car drive to our house in 24 hours?
4) What was the highest placed Britich car?
5) Who was the highest placed Britsh Driver?
6) If it is 4:00pm at Le Mans what time is it at home?

I'd definitely throw in a few French language questions, things like colours, food, places. I'm subjected to Cartoonito and CBeebies and they always have some French colour sing which goes round my head for days.
A trip to the museum might be an idea, although I seem to remember last year we wandered up on Friday and it was closed! Maybe just a gentle bit of history for the lad, previous winners, nothing too heavy.
I'd knock up a quick "bird spotting" guide (not that kind) where he can tick off the cars he see's. Again, nothing too heavy like a 'Ferrari 348GTB in red with black interior', just stuff like Lotus, Caterham, GT40, pirate ship etc.

If Daddy gets stopped for speeding - how much in £ is his fine of 500 Euros based on the day of the fines exchange rate.
If he gets stopped on the way there and on the way back - what's the currency difference between the two days.
Okay so maybe not these examples but some currency differences.

Some good stuff in there so far, he knows a little french so we'll try and strech that a little, as for car spotting, we are going to do top trumps again..

I have no exotica to offer you I'm affraid, but if you're passing through Karting Nord, you're more than welcome to jump in the Saab
If all goes to plan it will be a laugh with the sticker theme, and should be dispencing around 275 horses by then!
My forum name will be on the windows

Welcome to a spin in my car, glad to see the little lad is being started early.
Maybe he can tell you how many beers are the equivelant of him starting in karting for a season?
Perhaps he can work out your toll fees expected?
Miles per gallon on the whole trip? - and the associated cost (economics
)
With a child that age I am certain you can blag some tours of the pits etc and then set him some homework to ask them questions as well. Getting a child to have the courage to ask questions at that age sounds like a very good call to me as speaking up is something that will get him very far in life.
All the best
You know, reminds me of the time when I was at silverstone for the formula fords at about that age. I was allowed to sit in one they had sitting around - when my head disappeared below the cockpit i was asked to get out and they stopped the other kids getting in. Still got a photo though
