Hi all,
This is our effort for the 2009 pilgimage.
I managed to get this 500SEC Mercedes for the grand total of £0.00p, it hadn't run for a good few years but after some new leads and plugs it sprung into life. biggrin

Seeing as this year is during the recesion and we are on a budget most of the money was paid to Chip Foose to design us a new paint job for the Merc and i am sorry to say i wasn't very happy with his idea's so i knocked something up myself.

So then it was off to the local motor hypermarket for some paint, and hey presto we had a trolly full of blue and orange paint, some masking tape, a bottle of white spirit and some rude stickers clap .

Next was to pepare the old paint work ready for painting, so we washed it with white spirit idea, job done.
Next was to mask up windows etc, this took us another 4 minutes.

Then it was time to get painting, so out came a ton of beer drink and alot of dizzyness later headache and we had a finsihed result. bounce

We have got loads more to come, wheels need painting and all the black bit's
Exhaust need's to be modded for that authentic Aston sound and i also have a shed full of the good bits i saved from our last prodject the LEMANBULANCE woohoo
So will update in due course.

You actually resprayed an SEAC for a one off trip?

Sums up the British passion for motorsport and hanging out with the mates. Superb effort but can you imagine anyone other than us Brits doing something like that? For example the French, Pierre can't even be bothered to park his car without smashing up somesone bumper.

Whilst I applaud the spirit ... I cannot believe that what was a drop dead gorgeous automobile has been totally ruined for one weekend frown

Yes it probably was as you describe 10-20 years ago but now its not as "clean" as it apparently looks in the pics. So if you saw it in the flesh you'd realise its not a massive loss to the motoring world tbh (their not exactly rare lets face it). So in this instance its all good and gives people the ability to have some fun with it before the inevitable happens.......

Well it's true .. but the car did need the fibreglass cracks repairing anyway ... and the existing paint was well past it's best.. and the guy who built the engine used to race for JWR in gulf colours..

I'll change the colour back at some point... when I've bored of it biggrin

Here's a Aston I spotted at Goodwood last year..
