Anyone know of anywhere I can get single trip European breakdown cover for a 20 year old car?
Got a quote at near £100 foe a year, but am already covered for all cars in UK, so only need it for the pilgrimage to Lemans.
Anyone else had this dilema and found a reasonably priced solution??

I am in exactly the same situation with my old 20 year old volvo. In 2006, I actually bought RAC European breakdown cover, but because my car was so old, the cover was £100 for a week! But i thought it would be worth it if we did break down. However on reading the small print on the way down to le mans, it turns out the cover is not really worth the paper its written on, as they would only recover you, or get your car taken back home, if its worth over a certain amount!Got a quote at near £100 foe a year, but am already covered for all cars in UK, so only need it for the pilgrimage to Lemans.

Obviously mine isnt, so it was kind of pointless. I dont bother with breakdown cover. I did apply for ADAC last year and never heard anything back off them!
Past 2 le mans, Ive been without breakdown cover. I make sure the car is 100% before i go, take a few tools and a few spares, and thats it.

A few points to note in the small print:
Vehicle repatriation to the Territory
* will not be available if the market value is less than the cost of repatriating the Insured Vehicle.
General exclusions and eligibility
Before You Journey starts, the Insured Vehicle must be in a roadworthy condition and free from any defects and must also have an up to date service record. - So i presume this means a dealer service record, if you service your car yourself, your knackered!

Same with me, I am with britannia, but Euro cover has to be on one nominated vehicle only, and can only change it if you sell the car! So its on my Mondy Estate car as I take that more often. The other cars, I ussually get single trip cover from the ferry or the tunnel, but as it is only on carss less than 15 yeears old, I am a bit stuck.
May just risk it, has the thing 10 years, never broken down once! MOT tomorrow, have a good mooch around it, should be ok. But boot space for spares is at a premium, witn 2 of us camping!
Jump leads and puncture spray will be about it! (Oh WD40 of course). Maybe a tow rope will be an idea!!
don't pay too much for the aa, go through a cashback site such as quidco become a member and just add european cover when you need it.

I have been a little worried about this myself, I am taking a 55 year old MK1 Ford Zodiac, quite extensivly modified, V8 auto, mustang axle, independant front suspension, wheels etc etc, pleasantly surprised this mormning when I arranged cover via the AA for the 5 days of Le Mans for the total cost of £49.00, which I thought was bloody reasonable, I have informed them accuratley of the vehicle modifications, I cost me £38.00 last year when I took the Corvette !
I am pretty happy with this result, I came breath a little easier now and will perhaps be a little more inclined to give the Old Girl the Goose !!!!

My Porker is only £138 a year with Direct Line, so I dont bother with classic insurance! But worth considering if I am to go abroad again with it. £54 with AA, not bad, about a tenner a day??
Looks like that's the kiddie then. What's the betting the small print says not for cars over 17 years old!!
