Title says it all really! Got admitted to hopital on Wednesday, operation yesterday, home today. Thing is I have an open wound on my back which takes weeks to heal. Not worth risking anything so pulling out. Tickets up for sale so any money saved is a bonus. Absolutely gutted though!
Just have to get LM10 and LMC10 booked instead!

Cheers! What makes things worse is I should be sailing to the Isle of Man for the TT races today. My missus had better be ready for 2 weeks of mourning.On a plus note the NHS have been great and bedside internet is free.
I had the same thing 2 years ago.
Had a abscess at the base of my spine (can't remember the tech term, apparently it's quite common). Any how, had the operation 5 weeks before Le Man.
First week I spent in bed and the rest I spent learning to walk properly. I couldn't sit for 2 weeks, it sucked.
The following 6 weeks I had to have my 'lower back hole' packed with cotton stuff and pushed in with a little blue stick, which is a very interesting experience.
....still went to Le Man though. Had my dressing changed on the camp site and my folks had rented a villa nearby so I went there to shower and clean up the wound.
It was a very risky and stupid thing to do looking back. Oh well, was a good year.

any advise then for him i know there's no way he will stop at home.
I'm no doctor but personally I would put it this way. Miss LM and be p'ed off for a while or risk getting it wrong at LM, get an infection and spend the next X years attending with your crutches/wheelchair.any advise then for him i know there's no way he will stop at home.
Don't mess about with backs.

If it's any consolation my dog died today after hitting his head on a glass door....exactly 1 year to the day after my previous dog died, oh and then to top it all found a woman reversing her car into the front of my vette outside Tescos, luckily no damage.

Cheers for all your kind words, certainly makes it easier. For the lad who has just had the op I'd not risk the hassle. LM and all the wonders it brings is not a place to have an open wound. I'm still on anti-biotics which means no booze and infection is a definite possibility. Unless I was travelling in a motorhome and had access to a shower and qualified nurse I wouldn't bother risking it.
Just need to be well enough to have a LM BBQ instead and keep my chin up!!
