TomTom Points of Interest file to download

Hi, there was a TomTom POI file doing the rounds last year which was very useful. I've updated my copy of it with this years camp sites, some of the parking and a few other bits.

If anyone is interested right-click and download here

Hope it's useful. If anyone spots any errors, please let me know!

Probably the best place to search/ask is http://www.pocketgpsworld.com, maybe try there?

Does it have an SD card in it that you could write the files directly to?

Don't worry, that question came from my assumption that Macs were still not supported by Tom Tom, it seems however times have changed since I last looked.

Have downloaded a bit of Tom Tom software, once thats finished updating the maps I'll see if there is an option to load the POI info.

Well for a PC, I imagine you should be able to do the same?

Plug the Tom Tom in. This'll show up as a removal object. Open it up and browse to the map folder where the POI's (Points Of Interest) will apply. E.G. England or Europe etc - the folders will depend on what maps you have on your Tom Tom...

Once you download the file from the above link. Open this up and you'll have .bmp and .ov2 files.

Drag these into the map folder as mentioned above.

Unplug your Tom Tom from the computer and load it up. You can then manage/ enable the Tom Tom POIs through the unit. Enabling which POI's you want to be shown and if you want an audible warning when you approach them. This won't be of use for the campsite locations but will be for speed camera locations.

I can't remember where I got it from originally. Probably here!

So for the last two years I've had it constantly hosted online. I normally post up every year for people to download.

I had to say that I had forgotten this year though, been too busy.

hi guys will this work on a new tom tom , only got it yesterday and my good lady has had a go at loading the file as per your instruction but it does not appear to be working ....help !!!

Mines is a Tom Tom XL, I have had a look around the folders and can't seem to find an obvious map folder that contains anything labled POI/somewhere where it looks like I can dump the file.

I've downloaded the mac software, which can add POI's, but only the ones the software grabs off the net, can't seem to load custom ones.

It worked on mine when I put the files in "Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB" NOT the "maps" or "poi" folders.

Mine is on a Windows phone so I'm not sure I can help, but my .ov2 and .bmp files went in "Western Europe" just like ^^^^^

Sorry, I did the instructions off the top of my head. I have Western and Central Europe as mine. I'll plug mine in later and do a better guide.

I've updated the TomTom POI file with this years Pistonheads meet. I've left everything else as before. I don't think much has changed...? Anyway, use at your own risk!
