AM/FM Ear Defenders / Muffs

Anyone have some? They look ideal for Le Mans.

Yep,

I think they are brilliant. I've got two types of peltor ones.

You can actually hear radio le mans as the cars go past unlike if you just have the ear pieces in your ears.

No wires everywhere also. so every time you stand up the headphone plugs don't get pulled out the fm radio.

Bought some earlier but was worried they were allot of £ for one / two uses a year.

They have replaced the Kangaroo TV I was going to rent and at least I get to keep these.

Hopefully Radio Le Mans will be up to it's usual standard.

If last year was anything to go by i'd rather try and translate the french bloke on the tanoy.
RLM was a poor showing by normal standards last year.
I'm hoping for the return of The Big Boys Breakfast and less of the fat Geordie!!!!

I've been thinking of getting a set of Peltor headphones with built in FM radio. Could you let me know the precise model number you have please? I may then get geared up for LM & LMC 2010. Meanwhile, a pocket radio, headphones and wires will have to do!

Why not just wear ear defenders over what you currently have, far cheaper. I'm going to give that a go using my nokia as a radio.

I've done that on intercontinental flights, it's awesome. I'll be doing it at LM this year but I need a new radio!

Where do you get these AM/FM ear defenders from?

I Googled AM/FM Earmuff and bought mine from Davro. There are cheaper ones out there but as I decided I wanted these and need them delivered tomorrow ready for Wednesday's ferry, I took a hit on £. If you had some time, you could probably get some for half the price.

If they are as good as they claim, I'll be happy enough (although a cheap radio under ear defenders would probably do the trick for a tenth of the price).

I was given a pair of Peltor Racetunes.

Type : HRX52A

No: S0361683

I think they were from fleabay, possibly US..

They take two AA batteries, have a built in AM+FM tuner and can accept a standard 3.5mm jack input as well. They come with a 35mm cable to connect to a radio.

Sore ears, plus annoying wires, plus having to sort them out everytime you put them on.

I've got two peltor ones. There range is small, any are fine.

I've got one called 'racetunes' which was good. Second is a FM/AM ALERT, this has radio, plus is allows you to listen to normal conversation but blocks out load noises.

got carried away they sell the radios suppose you can have two one in each ear

I don't rate what is sold at the circuit. Much better reception etc to take your own pocket FM radio and decent headphones.

I have used a pocket FM radio with ear defenders in the past and indeed it works well. Which reminds me I don't know where my ear defenders are, best go shopping!

In reality I don;t know where the radio is either, but maybe the phone will work!

I've used my phone before - when it was a Nokia 6230i or something or other - the only problem I had with it was that the volume just didn't quite go loud enough and the battery obviously needed charging quite often..
