Mulsanne meet - a thank you

From the mayor and the staff of the town hall of Mulsanne and from the owner of the Queensland bar and all his staff, a very big thank you to you all for making this a brilliant event and for being so well behaved. It was so gratifying that the chav element stayed away (I got water pistolled over the wall of Houx on Thursday, stopped and gave him a b
king - made me feel much better!)
There will be a meeting of those of us here who put it together in September and we are planning better things for next year. An enormous thankyou to Bentley for turning up with two superb cars, one so mythical I had a lump in my throat, and to the staff of Pistonheads for their kind words. Hopefully, we shall be planning two events next year, one for Le Mans and one for the Classic but more on that later in the year when we've got together to discuss. I shall be posting pictures of the race when I have time for you all to enjoy (I hope).

A couple of statistics for you. 480 beer tokens were issued by the town hall and the bar sold 5,000 litres of beer over the weekend so about 10,000 pints were consumed without one bad word or hassle.

I thought it helped that the police seemed to be brilliant. They were everywhere, parked up with their big sunglasses, nice hats and scary looking guns, however they just allowed everyone to get on with having fun and were only there to stop things getting properly out of hand, which they never did.

I echo the sentiments of the other posters - I'm sorry it took us so long to get there but it was well worth it and there is a general desire to do the same thing next year (although we will try to get out of St S a bit earlier and to avoid the idiocy of Mulsanne on teh way there.
Once again - thanks to all for organising a great venue and I hope it goes from strength to strength.

Many thanks Tony, it was a pleasant place and atmosphere to have lunch and good to have something to follow on from St Saturnin in the morning.
One favour though Tony ... could you ask them at St Saturnin to to site some of the lowest ground clearance cars likely to attend in a more sensible place.
They had all ours on a grass area with a kerb to climb to get up to it. Even backing mine on resulted in a piece of snapped trim underneath.
A minor minor gripe though in what was one of the most pleasurable days from start to finish I have had in a long time.

Can I add my thanks back to you, the Mayor and those nice people in the bar handing out free drinks. It was an excellent event, and having been to SS in the morning really made the whole day just a great experience start to finish.

Great extra event to go to.
It was a nice relaxed atmosphere. I was expecting big queues of cars, but just sailed in and the beer token was a welcome surprise. Nice selection of cars there but it was quieter than I expected, although it was nice as a result.
Well organised, like being sign posted to the entrance from mulsanne corner.
Not being based near the main campsites also helps keep the real chavs away. I found the crowd at the side of the mulsanne straight more polite than those I watched outside HOUX. If you didn't want to do anything like spinning the rear wheels, there was no water being sprayed in your car.
Will definately re attend next year.

Just wanted to add my thanks to Tony for his organisational skills - surely this must become a regular event. And to the guys who had the time and energy to paint (and transport) a London bus in Gulf colours - WELL DONE! My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch in the Queensland bar - a much more civilised event than the normal hooning around at Arnage

Well thank you sir - blushes. Frankly I'm not sure how one can prove that one is a PH member really. This is in conjunction with the town hall and I don't think we can discriminate but like I have posted before - I am sure we have enough big chaps with us to make this self policing. I've had a lovely email today from Bentley and they are hoping to take part each and every year and are proposing to talk to the Bentley Owners Club to get their involvement.One point I would suggest trying to get this a small event for just PHers otherwise the chav element are bound to find out and the offer of "free beer" is like a red rag to a bull.
It seems everyone liked the bar I recommended and the owner is walking with a limp so big is his wallet I believe. However, I know the takings are greater elsewhere where quite frankly the service is crap and the food worse and you pay more so that's why I recommended it. I shall keep an eye on what he proposes for next year and if he tries to rip us off (which I am sure he won't) then we'll think again. I don't think he will dare argue since I can change the venue - I have others in mind but don't want to upset my local mayor. I'll start a new thread later in the year (a sticky would be useful again Stuart) and we'll each contribute ideas. Hope that meets with your approval all.
