Ive been going for a few years now and never had a problem. If you avoid certain usual troublesome spots the atmosphere is entirely different but getting your car soaked is just not on.
I reckoned the oik element was a bit lower than in previous years and had a great and comparatively civilised time.
Give it another try, or maybe consider the classic. Its on next year.....

Sorry If You think I'm being a bit rough on you, I don't mean to come across that way. The trouble is its all about respect! Your earlier comments about there being alternative routes is not correct. If you are staying in Houx, Houx Annex, Technoparc, Camp Corvette, Karting Nord, You have no choice but to use the MAD road. I wanted to drive down the Mulsane straight on Friday, So after getting onto the straight at Tet Rouge, I then sat in a traffic jam because of the antics by the Chinese restaurant. I ended up turning round and taking a big detour to miss this A few years ago we used to be able to park up at indianapolis / Arnage corner, this used to be a great day, but sadly this too is now closed because of a few idiots. In general the French seem to love the noise of sports cars and give you praise for owning them, however in England your scorned for having something a bit different, and sadly this seems to be the case if you do not wish to perform for the Muppet's. A couple of years ago I was standing in the middle of Arnage high street, politely asking drivers if they wished to perform for the crowd, I was wearing a Biggles flying hat and a long trench coat, The evening was going really well, then some Muppet having had too many beers decided to throw a pint of beer over the window of a Rolls Royce as it was wheel spinning away. I went over to this Muppet and his mates and asked them to leave, The rest of the crowd then applauded my actions. If your in an old banger sure it can be a laugh if that rocks your boat, But If you have bought over your pride and Joy to add to the greatest race in the world, Nothing is worse than having to have to put up with these Muppets

The solution for Mad Friday is the same applied to football in the early 90's.
There was a time when hooliganism almost overtook the game of football until a high police presence was brought in to combat this problem. The atmosphere prior to the games now is of a good nature but still lively and fun as nobody takes it too far.
It is the responsibility of the Gendarmerie to tackle the Mad Friday problem. The reason it gets out of hand now is because it is lawless.
There is no problem with the car element and a few burnouts and wheelspins, as long as everyone is enjoying it and that includes the drivers who do not want to participate.
I am sure people would think twice about throwing bottles and rocking/grabbing cars etc. if they were under the watchful eye of the gendarmes and would be arrested/fined if they did any of those things.
Once word spreads that Le Mans is no longer a chavfest they will look for entertainment elsewhere and probably not at this weekend, leaving the genuine motorsport fans to enjoy the race they love.

IMO if you do "like a bit of Mad Friday" you are going to have difficulty in deciding which bit. As a driver I find it difficult to see enough to separate the people who like "a bit of Mad Friday" from the "odd t$sser who inevitably goes too far"
It is a shame when part of the area becomes a no go zone being avoided by many people. Could easily be sorted by the prescence of a couple of gendarmes as happened by the Chinese restaurant.
BTW you still have not said what motor you were in. You seem to expect to be entertained but not to take part yourself. If it is that innocent, why not give it a go?
