Heres a good one.
I seem to have brought a few (thousand) unwanted guests back in my Porsche 968 Sport from the Houx campsite.
I was with Red3 & Party during the 4am Mulsanne Ops.

As a result my trainers were soaked and covered in cow s**t. Fortunately i brought a spare pair so washed the wet ones off and left them on the grass to dry for a couple of days.

Long story short, Got home and found a bootful of rather evil looking Ants which must have set up camp in my wet trainers and subsequently went on their own ops mission. (The big ones with massive pincers)

Hoovered the car out, emptied a can of bug spray and thought no more about it.

Today (over 2 weeks after getting back) i decided to remove the sunroof to find out why my mate was getting dripped on all the way home in the torrential rain, only to find thousands of the little bstrds and eggs living in the ridge between the sunroof seals and roof. No way they could have got in there via the sunroof seal so i think they'd crawled up the drainage holes and blocked them up while parked in Houx. Rather unpleasant.

Any other unlucky ant victims or am i the only lucky one?
Superb trip otherwise but think i'll thumb a lift in somebody elses pride and joy next year.

Comedy rant over.

PS. dont think they were attracted to the cowst. More so Ste's man sweat ingrained in your passenger seat.

I reckon you parked over a nest mate and the thing is that you now don't want them setting up camp in your garage or garden. It could turn into a scene from Mutant Ninja Killer Ants from Mars when you wake up one morning to find they've eaten your cat or worse!!!

Get a blowtorch and get ridf of them that way. Dont worry- neither the trim nor the paiontwork will be damaged* by using a blowtorch. Other then that, if they have sopread, you might have to get a professionla in.

During the very wet 2007 24Hrs, the little buggers took up residence in waterproof coat and laid a load of eggs in the collar lining. Must have crept up while it was hanging inside the tent.

Was a nasty surpise when I donned the coat to watch the end of the race. Had to scoop the little bcensoredds out with the end of spoon. When they decide to move in they move very quickly!!

A bit like the pikies...hehe

I had a self inflicted "dur" moment like that a few of years ago.... those horrid horrid flying ants were doing their yearly flying shag thing so the missus and I decided to pour boiling water over them all... in dozens of parts of our rather nicely manicured lawn. Three years later the bald crop circles in the lawn still hadn't recovered :-( Not sure what we were thinking... anticide just took over.

Blow torching ants is always fun.

Ray Mears cooks them with some garlic and eats them, apparently they taste like shrimp.

We were worried about ants, mainly them getting into the tent and carrying us away in our sleep, but we didn't really see any, only 1 that got onto the tent, and that was it, quite surprised.

Since hoovering up all of those little buggers the other day and spraying fly spray down my sunroof drain holes i thought that was the end of it. (er indoors now refusing ho have the vacuum back in the house). No Such Luck! Ive been spotting more random ants crawling over my car over the past few days and its making me a paranoid wreck.

Little s**ts must still be living somewhere underneath. None inside the car fortunately. Anyway ive been out and purchased a loft and garage fumigator 'TOXIC SMOKE BOMB'

So today i've locked the car in the garage lifted the bonnet and deployed my new weapon. Now need to wait 12 hours now. If it doesnt work im going to cry, or there'll be another addition to the Porsche 968 Classifieds section. (perhaps not on here though as everybody will know my secret) :-)

Not ants, but last year was coming up the A5 at daventry returning from Le Mans and a lizard popped its head out the dash vent and resisted all hot / cold / blower / air-con combinations while it chose various outlets to show itself. It had obviously been there since we left France the day before.
We managed to coach it out in the leicester forest east car park when it came out, ran along the window cill before making a dash for freedom.
Watch out for a 6" pale brown lizard ( probably 6 feet now ! )

Good luck with the ants, at least I got rid of my unwanted visitor.

Nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

That's a shame - that lizard probably ate insects, like ant. If you'd kept it you could have passed it on to jen155!

LOLbiggrin very funny. I never had any problem this year on my way back or whilst I was there. Neck pain,hungover,backpain,2-4 hours sleep, had all of those symptoms. Just not ants or lizzards.

Maybe next year that will happen.
