You might have overlooked this little rule;

I only saw this:

Petrol Engines: 5% increase in restrictor size (to 33.3mm)

GT1 based engines can be fitted with DBW throttle, direct injection and the design of the air box is free.
I'm a little confused, are GT1 based P1 engines getting bigger or smaller restrictors?

P1 cars that use GT1 engines (Lola Aston-Martin are the only ones so far) will have a small restrictor next year. Here's the link to the ACO document;

Hmm, I was thinking of it as the diameter of the area open to flow in the restrictor - seems the logical way to designate the size to me - especially given that the units are for a length, not an area, might just be my interpretation thoughParsnip said:

There was a lot of contention this year (hidden by the Peugeot / Audi squabble) about Aston's engine. Oreca were ready to protest it along with some other teams. In the race they ran the car with direct injection. There isn't (wasn't) a car in the Aston range with that system on it, thus the engine was unhomologated. If they had reached the podium I suspect the teams would have protested. It gave the cars a fuel economy advantage.
