I am starting to think about where to go for my stag do next year. I am keen on going to LeMans as I've been they're twice before and LOVE it! My only two issue's are:
1- it has no pubs, clubs etc.. which are handy for a stag do!party
2- a couple of the lads going are not into cars.

We would be taking our General LDV van/motorhome that adds SO much to the LeMans experience, and now a mate has a 28yr old transit motorhome, which is perfect for the trip, and means that we can maybe go LeMans for a couple of days, then travel to a city somewhere else in France, Germany, Belgium etc.. to go on the lash properly.

What do you guys think?confused

That sounds like a good plan and it is something different to do .

What do you mean no pubs? The guiness tent/champagne bar/the bar just over the dunlop bridge/tetre rouge, the many many beer stalls??? And that's just in the circuit, get to arnage village before the off, the town centre, a mere tram ride away on Friday for the drivers parade.

Many many beers to be had in so many places, and that doesn't even include the stubbies on the camp site from carrefeur.

Le Mans has a number of issues, lack of drinking estblishments is not one of them!

Never quite sure how we end up there but Le Mans has a club, a couple I think. Have frequented there two years running on the Friday evening, head in to town for a good laugh and if you're in to that sort of thing I'm sure you can find a gentlemans club also!

A CLUB! Is that in Ararge(not sure if thats how you spell it!) Or a little further away? I suppose i didn't really think about how many watering holes there are at LeMans. Both times we've ended up completely hammered!

Do you guys think a non car lover would enjoy it?scratchchin

On the subject of gentlemen's club's there is definitely one there somewhere, some 'ladies' were handing out flyers on the Friday. Not the best looking lappies i've ever encountered to be honest, but there are some there.

Would a non car lover enjoy? I think so, i took my ex-girlfriend a few times and she enjoyed it.

Besides, its your stag do so mates should really want to be there to celebrate your impending incarcaration. I've been on a wide variety of stag dos and I think the company is the important factor. Get the right lads together, and enough beer, problem solved.

These bars have got the concept of a good booze up not your normal "make a half last all night" French bar, the nearest is Allones which is quite a way from the circuit but it could be a night out for you all.
Web site only in French.

If you do this at Le Mans make sure nobody is tempted to invite a stripper into the normal bars...They don't like it out there!! whistle

Its called "Opera" and has a cage on the dance floor where ladies remove their cloths, and I don't know how I end up there every year?

Don't pander to the non-car lovers. It's your stag. They can choose to come or not!

However, my pal Marcus wasn't in to cars and came as a wingman for the first time in 2005. Then again in 2006. Then bought himself a 911 and has driven himself every year since!

This is it - the only way we can find it is to meet up with the same locals each year and they steer us in the right direction.

Good lad, you know it makes sense!

One night on the way down? Stayed in Rouen, Honfleur, Le Harve, Amiens and Le Touquet-Paris-Plage on route in recent years.

I'd avoid Le Harve, the rest are pretty good for bars/restaurants.

Honfleur was probably the nicest, not so sure for a stag do though, maybe too pleasant. It is a little off the direct track, but the bridge over the river is worth driving over, epic.

Mind you most of this part of the country did get a kicking back in the 100 years war, so english stag dos? maybe they're used to it.....

Rouen is good in the town centre for bars etc and bang on route, but you'll need to bag rooms fairly quickly.

Hope that helps, will be in Houx with the TVR boys so if you do make it come over and say hello.

I'd say Le Touquet is a good bet. I went on a stag there once, Plenty of bars, clubs, Casino's etc. We stayed at the Mercure Grand which is great hotel part of the accor group IIRC

Only thing is it's very close to Boulogne/Calais so if it's a stop on the way down you still have a reasonable drive to Le Mans and you might as well go to Paris for a night. or if it's on the way back you're almost at the ferry so would you just want to get home after a weekend at LM?

A stag do doesn't have to go on till 8 in the morning- but if you feel it must, Le mans Is surely the place to have it.

Get to the champers tent, explain to a few folk it's your stag do, and I'm sure you will have a great time- a few hours singing in the sun, drinking games and so on......

I will be in houx with 9 mates, and although we would always respect the folk around us, we gave a right laugh.

Try the town on Friday via the tram- this year we met some great folk from bristol, and can barely remember getting back to the site.

Happy, happy days.

Good luck if you decide to go, always available for a beer or two should you need numbers boosting (burns allowing, see one of my older threads!) c
