Big debate in the pub.

1/ From the 80's onwards did Jaguar race in any other class other than C Class.

2/ Did the XJ 220 race in standard body form I.E. GT class

3/ In any class at Le Mans does a manufacturer have to make a minimum number of road going versions of there Le Mans Versions.

AFAIK:-

1. No
2. No
3. Unsure but think no Stuart. In the olden days a minimum number of prototypes had to be built which is why for example Jaguar won in 1957. "LMP1" type cars in that year were restricted to 2.5 litres but the D-type was classified as a production car since so many had been made and so got away with the 3.8 litre engine.

Depends what you mean by 'standard body'. The XJ220 C ran in the GTC class in 1993 but was disqualified due to a technical infringement with the catalytic converters (or lack thereof). Most of the panels were carbon as opposed to aluminium, but that's the same as most GT1 and GT2 cars today.

Should the answer be yes.
The white martini car raced in Italian GT didnt it.
PC Automotive did GT , one race with Tiff Needell
Chamberlain Eng ran a quite a few endurance races.
Alan Lloyd did lots but I think his car was Carbon Fibre not Standard Ally.
I believe Someone did an Amoc or Intermarques race{I think] in a near standard Car and a red one crashed in, possibly, Amoc.

and then there was Fast masters?

I know of loads more in Carbon Fibre form.

Besides the 3 cars in 1993, PC Automotive did Le Mans in 1995 and Chamberlain Engineering prequalified for the same but did not turn up for the race.
