Has the date for the Le Mans 24hrs 2010 been confirmed officially yet or are we still all assuming the dates?

Still assuming based on previous years which should put it second weekend of June 12/13th.

In typical French style I can confirm it will be the weekend closest to the summer solstice (21st June)...probably.

The official word on the ACO website is:

Wouldn't this make Le Mans more likely to be on the 19th / 20th June as this is the only non F1 weekend. Or do they only make sure they avoid the French GP?

Wouldn't this make Le Mans more likely to be on the 19th / 20th June as this is the only non F1 weekend. Or do they only make sure they avoid the French GP?

I've certainly sat there and watched the Canadian GP one Sunday evening while at Le Mans, so I suspect clashes with the F1 calendar aren't high on their list of concerns when scheduling the event.

And I remember being sat there in BSJ when they had the fiasco at Indy listening in my mates Vectra. You may mock, it was a Vectra that couldn't go above 75mph or the engine cut out.......but in 2005 that air con was a gift from god.

Anything with aircon was worth having that year. I was also in BSJ and we found some Austrians with a TV and watched some of the race farce with them. Not the only time there has been an F1 race on over the Le Mans weekend.

For things like F1 and World Cup football the ACO don't tend to move weekends to avoid a clash but will move the start time.

World Cup wise there are games at 13:30, 16:00 and 20:30 both 19th/20th. If France have a 13:30 game I'd guess a 16:00 or 17:00 race start, so people have time to watch the game before getting to the race start/watch finish before heading off to watch game. 20:30 probably won't effect anything and a 16:00 would probably mean a 14:00 race start/finish.

That's a ticket agency guessing though, the ACO haven't confirmed yet. IIRC they've managed to avoid clashing with F1 whilst Bourdais was in F1, that won't be a problem for next year.

I think that's just a travel company having an educated guess. ACO usually confirm the actual date in mid October.

This the French ACO we're talking about here, who's organisational skills are always lacking somewhat. I wouldn't trust a thing until you see it in black and white from the horses mouth.

Speedchillies are also indicating that 12th june is likely date, 19th would be closer to the longest day but i think the world cup in South Africa could be the cause of moving the date forward.

Not sure I follow the logic of the ACO "moving" the start from the 19th to the 12th in order to miss the 6 World Cup games on the 19th/20th...what with the 6 games on the 12th/13th.

In the past the ACO have moved the race start to miss World Cup game starts but not changed the date.

Looking at the link I posted above, it appears you can buy GE and parking but not grandstands or camping, although I haven't been through the full checkout process.
