Tribune opposite pits for start/finish?

Hey guys

Visited La Sarthe for the first time last year and had a fantastic time. One thing I got wrong last year was trying to get the full-on startline noise experience. We jostled for a glimpse of the cars from the outside of the track in the general viewing area at the first corner. Could barely hear any of the cars or see much.

So this year I plan to get a tribune seat mainly just for the start, but also wathcing the finish and some pit lane action during the race. By my reckoning this means I need one of the following in order of preference (based on not being able to get ACO tribune!):

tribune 19 (Lagache)
tribune 17 (Durand)
tribune 16 (Sommer)

ACO have sold out of these but I can still get Lagache for £179 (inclusive of a general entry so knock off about £65) from a reputable agent. So I guess my questions are:

1) Am I about right with my preference for which Tribunes are best for what I want?

2) Is that price worth paying? I see there were some Lagache tickets on club arnage etc swap forums last year but still going for face value of nearly £100 so not saving very much for the anxiety of not knowing you have a guaranteed seat!

Been there since 1996, and my son and I always get seats in La Sarthe (previously called Maison Blanche) grandstand. All round the best grandstand on the circuit in our opinion. Great view of Ford Chicane, pits entrance, and all the way up the pits straight too, but as it is not in the pits area itself it may be not what you want. We settle down with Radio Le Mans and a good supply of 1664s and wer're all set!

We've been to Le Classic for the past three occasions and we've always been in Lagache, one of the grandstands you are considering. If you are after pits straight action it will be excellent and give a good view of the pre race line up, the pits action and also the finish and post race presentations, so I can recommend it if this is what you want. Could be noisy though...so what, did I hear?

Son and I cannot make 24 Heures du Mans 2010 but we are going to Le Classic. All sorted, in the ACO grandstand too. We feel that because of the fact there is so much action in the pits straight with the one hour races, being there rather than La Sarthe grandstand is preferable.

I opted for a grandstand seat last year in Lagache and I have to say to me personally it was worth it for sure. Im disabled so have trouble getting round at the best of times, so having somewhere that i knew was available to sit and watch the race whenever i wanted was a godsend

I was in Lagache last year, we normally have T34 above the pits, but a last minute mix up meant we got a free upgrade. Personally, I didn't think it was worth the extra (that I didn't pay!). If I was going to sit on that side of the track I'd want a better view of the Ford Chicane. I'd got for the Maison Blanche stand, or whatever it's new name is.

ASommer this year and booked for next. Its at the end of the pits directly opposite the giant screen, easy to access and see the cars exit the pits. Nice.
