Grandstand Quandary - T11 or T23 La Sarthe/Maison Blanche

After having been fortunate enough to have seats in the Maison Blanche grandstand for the last cuple of years, next year's provisional ticket allocation has come up to offer T11 (Wimille - I think).

Now, the only thing I don't like about Maison Blanche is that you cant see a screen, which can make following the race not as easy as it could be.

So, can we compare notes on both of these stands? Can you see a screen from T11 and is it undercover?

Getting the right tribune at Le Mans is a key matter based on personal choice and expectations.

Since 1996 my son and I have always taken a seat in La Sarthe (was Maison Blanche) and we think this gives a great mix of track action alongside the Ford Chicane, the pits entrance, and good sighting up the whole of the pits straight. However, as you say, there is no screen. Having Radio Lemans helps keep up with all athe ction, news etc.

For the past three Le Mans Classics we have had a seat in Lagache which is in the pits straight. We've done this becasue there is a lot more pits straight action with Le Classic, of course, as there is a new race starting every hour. We're in the ACO stand for Le Classic 2010 (not able to go to the 24 hours next year).

We have actually thought of taking two seats for the 24 hours in order to get close start/finish action in the pits straight, and La Sarthe for its overall racing excellence. Maybe we'll do this one year!

I was lucky enough to be gifted a ticket for Wimille Tribune last year and yes there is a giant screen opposite and its under cover. Gives a good view down the start finish straight and up to the Dunlop Bridge, plus you get the bonus of the cars accellerating out of the pit lane as it exits directly opposite (more or less!)

Looking to purchase two tickets for it again for me and my Dad when I get over there as it wasnt sold out last year, Im hoping it wont be sold out this(2010)

Every year I get tickets for Barnato, a couple down from Wimille, but very similar viewing.

I really think you get a great mix of action in these stands.

You see the start and finish area, some pit action, the bend and approach to dunlop chicane, so quite a lot of viewing of the cars.

Plus the big screen. Great for picking things back up in the race whilst listening to radio le mans.

Close to the finish for the track invasion at the end.

I can see the appeal of maison blanche. If you're going back year after year there is no harm in trying different spots.
