Grandstand Above the pits

Hi All,
Just a question regarding the grandstand above the pits at Le Mans.
Have sat in Lenard and Legache grandstands for the last couple of years but ive always thought what is it like in the pits grandstand, does anyone know what the views like, do you get a better view looking down onto the pits, and can you see a giant tv screen from there - a problem in the main grandstands, ive been using binoculars to watch the giant screens in the past, thier so far away from the middle grandstands.

Was in there a few years ago. It's ok for practice when you can get there early and get right down the front (tickets only needed for Sat and Sun) but unless you're allocated a seat in the front you can't see the pits down below. Plus if it's wet, the rain blows into the stand and the front half gets wet. Better on the opposite side with some binoculars. As for screens I think they're either end of the pits, you can see them from either side.
I have sat there for the last two years, right above the corvette pits. Been pretty lucky and have always been only a few rows back from the front. During the start/finish of the race you can only sit in your seat, not get down the front, but during the race itself most people sod off back to campsites giving you the chance to hang over the pit lane and get some great photos and videos.
There is a big video screen at the start/finish line which you can see clearly, i was sat at pretty much the end of the pit lane and could see it ok.
Luckily had no rain whilst sat there but were in the shade and at one point it did get a bit chilly.
Oh, and the best thing is the echo as the cars go past. The 'vettes sounded amazing, you can literaly feel them.
I cant recommend sitting there highly enough, am getting seats there again for 2010.
There is a big video screen at the start/finish line which you can see clearly, i was sat at pretty much the end of the pit lane and could see it ok.

Each to their own etc, but I personally think that above the pits is the worst stand of all. You have restricted views entering and leaving the pit straight and you cannot see into the pits unless you hang over the railings.
There is a reason why these are cheaper that all other stands on the pit straight.
Leonard, Lagashe and La Sarthe are far better. The ACO (T18) is best for its facilities and T16 Sommer is one of the best for circuit views. Opposite a big screen at the exit of the pits. So a good view of pits, pit straight and Dunlop chicane.

And make sure you wear ear muffs at night up there!
Its bloody loud as you get a lot of reflected noise bouncing up.
We have been in Lagashe for last two years but have decided to mix it with the crowd this year for a change! £110 for an hour or two at each end of race??
Its worth heading up there for practice/Quali as you can get to the front and, if you lean out a bit you can get some nice views looking down on the cars.
I didnt have a stand this year and didnt miss it particularly during the race. Of course having a covered seat can pay dividends if it rains!!

I agree it's good to spectate for a bit from there to get a different view, especially during practice & qualy when it's free, but the seats opposite the pits are much much better during the race - they give great views of the track, the start/finish, pit action through the race, provide shelter from heat or rain plus easy to go for a wander, grab beers etc, and know where to find your mates
