Somewhere nice to stay on the way down?

For the last few years we've stayed a night in Gace on our way down to Le Mans. We have a nice meal and a few drinks Thursday night and set off after breakfast on Friday, but this year we would quite like a change. Can anyone suggest somewhere else to stay?

Tons of good places on the Normandy coastline. Depending on your crossing it might be a slight detour - we nearly always stay at Honfleur as we like the ambience/seafood. Lots of good D Day museums etc to visit as well.

a load of us on the dunkirque crossing stopped off in Rouenne last year on the way back.this year we're staying there thursday night then a easy trek to le man friday morning.doing the same on the way back too on the sunday evening.just breaks the journey up from the midlands.

Honfleur is great, Rouen is also OK, closer to Calais there's Touqet-paris-plage.


If time allows I'd go for Honfleur.

There is some car parking around the back and if not there is the fairly traditional market square in front, the last time we stayed we parked next to an Alfa 6C which set the place off rather well.

Excessive booze and the in-house lobster tank proved a bad combination mind you!

Thinking about it I’m almost tempted to give another try, lovely place to stop over.

Was just about to say Gace until I read this. We stopped there the last two years in a row for a nice lunch on the way down.

Here in fact is a pic of my car all stickered up and the place we had lunch.
