Restaurant overlooking Mulsanne's straight
Discussion
I remember having seen somewhere that there is a restaurant (maybe Chinese) overlooking the Mulsanne's straight. This place is located inside of the circuit on the industrial estate, south of the Bugatti circuit.
Can someone here point me towards the right topic or even better, post the details of that restaurant?
Thanks
Philippe

I think you are looking for the Cafe de Hunaudiere, second post down has directions, but a google might find you a map. Great place to watch from, though local Pold have got a bit more strict in recent years..

Gets booked up well in advance, yes it is a Chinese, Its not exactly posh and there have been many cases of people feeling rather unwell having eaten there
One other small thing if your sitting down in the restaurant the ACO have for the last few years put up a great big green covered crowd barrier, You hear the cars go buy but very hard to see them, Not worth it IMO.

There are actually 2 places, 1 is the Cafe de Hunaudiere and the other is the Chinese. Both on the outside of the track close to each other

In days gone by the view from there was brilliant, I remember leaning against armco as car flashed past at incredible speeds, then they blocked that off, so we went into the field next door, watching over a hedge, then the plod stopped that, the last time i went there during the race you could barely see anythin, not been there now for 6 years, better to go to Mulsanne or Arnage better views. However nice place to go for a beer on friday and watch the Plod trying to stop the antics of various people on the straight itself.

+1First year I went was, I think, 1997.
I remember being stood in between some bushes right behind the armco by the Cafe. The Panoz damn near made my ears burst !!!

And we had dinner in the chinese one year with the windows open practically right onto the track. Conversations were a little tricky during that meal

Gradually it got more and more restricted until the last time I went (probably about 3 years ago) we ended up perched on top of a gate trying to grab a view of the cars. Way more dangerous in many ways

While I can understand their reasons for limiting access, there is something special about seing cars absolutely flat out. The only place which comes close now is the section you can see where the cars exit Mulsanne Corner, but they've not really got fully up to speed by the time they pass you there.
