Ok, so thats on my list of things to do before the weekend is out.

based on 2 per car. (2 cars)

how much should I be looking to pay to:



1) Get to france (and back)

2) Be able to watch the race, as I'm confused whether I need a general entry ticket (65 euro) or would something a little less expensive suffice?

3) A decent place to pop my tent and park up my motor. Also, I have been watching some videos on youtube of "crazy friday" and I'm a little worried of how people treat each others cars? Is respect for each others cars generally good or should I expect a few dings from general campsite antics?

And are there any other things that I have missed?

1. You can surely research mileage and ferry prices yourself?
2. You will need a general entry ticket per person (can be bought when you're there, once the tent is up etc)
3. You can leave it late and get whatever the organisers have left camp site wise, or plan mega early and get your 2011 orders in now..

oh and crazy Friday isn't "that" crazy, best way to avoid is not to arrive on the Friday and don't drive around the hot spots if you're in something you don't want to be splashed or finger printed

I had a look at ferry prices myself, but found them to vary hugely. ranging from £110+ to a merge £60. And was just wondering what the average expected price to be paid was. Mainly as £60 seemed a bit too good to be true.

Or can get return with Eurotunnel. Got mine a few weeks ago for £87 return. Last year left it to a few weeks before and paid £160! So book asap!

HEY DOODLES!

This is my second year going to Le Mans.Im taking my own car this year,buying my stickers from Hollographics.My ferry ticket cost me £74 with seafrance dover-calais,8.15 thurs returning 15.40 mon.
were camping at Club Valan,they have a website,think its 'club valan-tours'.You will need a general admission ticket if u want to be free to walk around the whole circuit.Hope you find this helpful.

sea france do the job cheaply, prefer to get the evening train myself plenty of good racing to be had and the cars are unbelieveable.

campsites are safe however mad friday has to be seen to be believed, your best to avoid any car movements from 4pm onwards. theres loads going on, mulsanne meet and a good car show at st saturin during fri morning.

opens wednesday and the earlier the better.

thursday is great on the camp site everything from bathrooms being made to supercars.

theres also a gig on saturday night thats pretty good too,

sunday evening can be spent at le mans but stay close to your tents, they seem to let the local gypsies help with the litter picking after the invasion of many pissed up english people

Remember LD Lines is only a 50 mins crossing and docks at Boulogne which is further down the coast than Calais so you'll get a small fuel saving too. I used them for our group booking last year and the service was excallent.

I'm afraid the Dover-Boulogne LD Lines crossing has gone back to 1hr 45mins .. they moved the fast boat to Portsmouth - it doesn't make it nearly so attractive.
