Suggestions for Friday, no car though!

OK guys,
As you can see from my previous posts, I am unable to do Le Mans by car so will be going by train with my daughter who hasn't been to Le Mans before...
We are staying on the PH campsite and arriving Thursday so any suggestions as what to do on the Friday other than he drivers parade which is a given!
Have seen a couple of threads re St Saturnin and the Mulsanne PH meet, however, we won't have a car so will be restricted unless anyone has 2 spare seats! Also not sure about timing and whether these will clash with the drivers parade...

Here's my suggestions...
It's open pit lane all day on Friday, so that would be my first port of call.
Museum straight after the pit walk.
How about walking a full lap of the circuit?
If you are feeling energetic, you could walk to the PH meet at Mulsanne but would probably take about an hour each way. If you've got bicycles it's an easy ride. The advantage of this is that you can walk/cycle the track backwards from the Porsche curves to Mulsanne.
Get the tram into town early, explore the old town before getting a good spot for the driver's parade.
If you want to stay closer to home, walk into Arnage for a meal and a few drinks into the evening.

The tram goes into town from near Tertre Rouge corner so that might be an option or there are buses from near the top of the circuit on the other side of the motorway.Unless anyone else has any suggestions it will be pit lane and then into Le Mans early to get a good spot for the parade....

Going Le Mans with my dad in his motorhome again this year and I'm used to getting about by the public transport as he won't move it once it's set up. Went to the Mulsanne car show last year with my dad, mum, wife and my 5 and 1 year old sons (That was hard work won't be trying that one again for a while). Anyway you can get a bus from outside the main tram station at antares next to Houx Annex camping that takes you to Mulsanne village just stay on it until you see the town hall (& CARS). Bus goes to the retail park where McDonalds is 1st which is halfway up Mulsanne Straight then at the end of the straight it loops round the left side of Mulsanne village 1st then crosses the same roundabout and does a loop round the right side of the village. You need to get off at the end of the right hand loop. Buses run each way every 30 mins or so. Bus Route No.24. You get to see the mad friday Mulsanne straight activities from the safety of the bus to.

OK That's the easy one sorted. Now the untried and untested way of getting to St Saturnin by public transport. Planned it last year on google earth so me and my mate are giving it a try about 8am Friday this year. Start at the Antares Tram Station. You will need a day travel pass (especially if your going to the mulsanne show and drivers parade later) and a comfortable pair of shoes. Basically it's a tram into town, swap to a bus, then a 1.5 mile walk under the railway line, under the motorway, across the next railway crossing, through the park and your there. Simple. Aiming to be there by 10. If anyone's interested in joining us then let me know.
Our plan for the day is
Antares Tram Station (8.15-8.30am)
St. Saturnin
(10am)
back for the Pitwalk (1.15pm)
over to the Mulsanne Car Show(2.00pm)
tram into town for Drivers Parade (4.30pm)
then into a bar for France v Uruguay (8.30pm kickoff)
tram back (midnight(?)
).
4 different car events, beer and world cup football all on a one day travel card.
Not sure how I'll be feeling midrace on Saturday/Sunday though

Just wondering what time the pitlane opens as we may do that first, then St Saturnin, then just stay in Le Mans for the parade later...

Pitlane open 10am til 8pm. St Saturnin open from 9am. We're staying in Houx Annexe next to the tram station. Not sure how mad that campsite will be this year but wasn't able to get a Tertre Rouge camping ticket where we stayed last year. If you want to go St Saturnin with us we could meet you at Antares Tram Station at 8.15-8.30. The 2 parts of the journey that we need to be careful on are crossing the main road out of town (but we can cross that at the big roundabout this side of the motorway) and walking up the back lane to St Saturnin (incase it's full of sports cars doing more than 30mph). Should be ok though.

Must admit, hate football as well....
HOWEVER... some people are fans and the atmosphere in Le Mans town on the Friday night before the race will be very good as all the locals will be geared up for France's first game in the tournament, which should make a very good (in other words beer fuelled) night out...
As long as the hooligan element don't spoil it, although hopefully they will be too busy doing Mad Friday burnouts etc well away from the town...
Anyone else fancy meeting up on Friday morning....

Love the pit lane walk. Bit busy at times...... why they can't sort out a one way system is a mystery. Would be much better with everyone aiming to go the same direction and filter past each of the garages.
The drivers parade is a good. Hanging around the end of the course will mean a long wait for things to come around though.
The Mulsanne meet is also shaping up to be a great 'must do'. Nice casual atmosphere last year.

Take your push bikes!
We strapped them onto the back of our camper last year and having driven around Le Mans on previous years, it made life so much easier. You can cycle anywhere you want, any time of the day or night and not worry about the huge traffic jams!
We went the the straight on Friday lunchtime, drivers parade in the afternoon (having had more than a few bottles for lunch, and not concerned about my license!) and rode around during the race to various parts of the track to have a look around.
I'm not going this year as number 5 will be a week or so old, but next year it will be bikes as a priority

I think we'll be doing St Saturnin again and will be in Houx, with possibly a couple of spaces free if you're interested. Not sure about getting back though - we usually go off to Chartres for lunch but then have a restaurant booked for later on.Just a suggestion....
