there seem to be some interesting dress regulations (and some hilarious english)... whats the scoop on this from people who have been before?

I'm normally in charge of T-Shirts for the regular Le Mans, so this is a new challenge! I've been to the Goodwood revival before, but we ended up just looking like geography teachers, which wasn't a great look - plus I'd like to avoid boiling to death in the Sarthe sun in July!

Any tips and inspiration from guys who have been before, also any sites where I can buy (faux)vintage wear....eg white mechanic's romper suits?

For quite a long time our English friends have prescribed to this ‘dress code' idiom, without shame without any reservation…and with a real flare.
Let us say that this would create an allure and that the paddock with everyone dressed in the day would make this trip back in time surreal.
Thus everyone would have the joy of participating, in his own way, in one of the most important events in the world of vintage automobiles.

No tie required nor jacket…
Leave these codes to the Americans, try to dress ‘smart' and if dressing in the era frightens you…why not just make a bit of an effort (and avoid shorts, sandals, as comfortable as they may be, nasty trainers or ratty T-shirts).
We need you and it will be worth giving it a go!

Le Mans Classic have been trying to emulate Goodwood for some time. With my press passes last time paddock dress was "smart casual" so a denim shirt and slacks would do - OK? Not a bit of it! All press guys were in shorts and t-shirts. Perhaps they'll try and enforce a "dress code" this time, but if you work out that all the people on the gate are on minimum wage and hired just for the event then I doubt they'll try too hard to push the issue. it'll be fun to see some of you try, but for me, with at least 20lbs of cameras on my back, I'll get away with what I can. So be prepared for both would be my advice - you never know.

Last time we went, we took slacks and half decent shirts, just in case they did insist on the dress code, as they kept insisting that they would, and the guys who were camped next to us came with the whole routine, period suits, jackets, hats, the works. And when we all went out to the various enclosures etc., no-one gave a toss what we wore! It's just not the French way of doing things. But it is a pain taking stuff like that for nothing, when you're limited for space in the car, as a good many of us are.
