The Houx Wall

I don't think that I am dreaming but am sure that a few months ago I heard that the old concrete wall around Houx had been pulled down.

Can anyone (lowdrag?) possibly confirm or deny this and if they have removed it is there any other form of enclosure in place yet?

Oh, and has it affected the electric boxes that used to line it?

NO Do you think they'll let just anyone in? No idea where you heard or dreamed it but it ain't so. As long as you bloody lot don't drench me from on high in the D-type I'll ask the ACO to refrain from putting barbed wire along the top too.

Hi lads it certainly is true , we popped in on our way back from snowboarding in january and the wall has been replaced by a green mesh fence but the strong type no wire cutters getting through this one , i will post some pics up if some1 explains to me how to lol cheers .

The question is will this stop people pissing against the wall because the toilet block (30 steps away) is too far to walk...or just have people outside pissing through the fence on to people tents?

Yes, I do have a sadly low opinion of some people that attend Le Mans.

Thought so. What's worrying me is that I can't see any of the electric hookups that were along the wall still there...

I'm sure that there will be some somewhere, heck the ACO may even be investing in proper stations for the whole of their permanent camp-site since closing the shop*

The only protection you had from the noise of the nerks who want to stay up all night racing down the road was the concrete wall. It made you feel more 'secure' if you know what I mean (well, it did me anyway)

And the whole atmosphere of Houx is bound to change by opening it up. Could be for the better I suppose, who knows.

I'm at classic this year not 24hr, so your reports on how this has changed things will be very gratefully received guys.

Hmm, The lack of electric points is worrying however, a long enough extension cord should fit through the holes in the fence and, oh look! some lamp posts!!

I presume the same applies to the water supply taps that where also located along the wall

I know they banned the paddling pools because it was running the local water supply dry but surely on the grounds of public health they would need to provide some form of water supply.....

Typical French ploy, to stop as invading them and taking over as usual.

First they reduce the camp size available, than make tickets only available from official agents, with no discount for car clubs. Now they are cutting off the electric & water supply.

Next it will be only french cars that can enter the race.

I reckon the new fence could be a good idea If you were unlucky enough to have been allocated a pitch next to the old wall in Houx, it had a tendency to be used as a toilet throughout the weekend

Last year I sent the ACO a couple of emails outlining some suggestions to make life easier and safer for the fans in the campsites and they totally ignored my emails. I even copied them into french but they were not interested. They don't seem to give a toss about the fans and lets face it, if it wasn't for us Brits, it would be a non-event. If no-one from the UK attended the Le Mans 24 Hours would cease to exist. How much for a Guinniss !!!????

Let`s not be toooooooooooooooooooo negative about all this.I see it as perhaps that fence is just an internal one and the road is the access to all sites on the Mulsanne side of the circuit.Last year there did seem to be a lot of new work going on especially with the new stadium being finished.Traffic queues are getting horrendus towards the weekend,so it might just make access less stressful for some.It might keep general public out with no camping passes on vehicles(too bad if you double up or sub-let part of your pitch.But why should we all pay for that).Might even keep the Pikeys out as well.I reckon we should wait for the Moto boys to report back and make judgements then.WDYT.
