Aye, I did Le Mans-from-the-Living-Room for 2008 and Eurosport had continuous coverage from flag-to-flag, but it bounced from Eurosport 1 to 2 every couple of hours... kick it on, fire up the BBQ, trip to Lidls for French-type products, Radio Le Mans, tent in the garden and you're as close as you'll get!

What you really need to do for the authentic experience:Hot wire and extension cable from the nearest streetlight. Run as many free ads fridges as you can from it. Sleep in a tent and don't wash. Invite at least 50 random people you have never met round to camp in your back garden. before they arrive, make sure you block your downstairs/outside toilet with at least two cheap toilet rolls and take a dump after a particularly viscious curry. Then get a kids paddling pool with a slow puncture and fill it with water from your outside tap. Then fill with aforementioned beer from Lidl and an unwrapped Lion bar (to keep your new mates from nicking your beer). If possible, get your ghetto blaster to play Ibiza anthems until about 4am at full blast, ignoring the neighbours and plod when they turn up. For a laugh, do a few donuts on your front lawn after a bottle or two of absinthe and them vomit all over the nearest tent.
Have I missed anything?

- build a beer bottle mountain in garden, marvel at the triumph of basic engineering and then fall into it at 3am while blearily looking for someone else's guy-ropes to relieve yourself on
- lose your car keys, access car with spare cannily hidden in mates car... then shut car with spare in it
- ensure no item of clothing returns home completely clean; at least one permanent ketchup/mayo/wine/rum stain required
- wear the exact same clothes/underwear for a minimum of 4 days
- watch at least 12mins of the 24hr race... even if that's only the podium celebration
- burn everything except you car and the clothes you are wearing on Sunday to prevent pikey theft... then drive off leaving a seemingly unopened bottle of Powerade in plain sight re-filled with screenwash

I would suggest asking your next door neighbour if they could run a generator next to your tent constantly for 24hrs, and maybe towards the end of the weekend get fireworks and launch them at random (but under no circumstances skyward) from scaffold tubes, before setting a huge fire, chopping down trees in your garden if required to fuel it, before throwing on beer kegs. Lastly they could empty dustbins all over your garden and drive over the contents as fast as possible to give you that authentic Sunday night at Beausejour feel.
I'm really going to miss going this year, aren't I
Great thread,
Ive honestly been crying with laughter at some of the answers on here
A couple of years ago I did not go and spent the weekend glued to the TV watching all the racing and having my own bbq in the back garden by myself
The result was that it drove the missus mad and I was told to p
s off to France in future
The plan worked

Thats exactly what I did in 2009. Even better, the neighbours were having a party so have some midnight mortars to keep me awake. The lad just slept straight through it all in the tent with me though, he must have nicked some of my Magners when I wasn't looking.Gassing Station | Le Mans | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
