In recent years we have always travelled to Le Mans early on Thursday morning, however last year, wanting to stretch the weekend out as much as possible we travelled on Wednesday, It was great to get settled in before all the action but we seemed to miss all the convoys etc driving down and this took away what has always been an important part of the weekend....anyway..

This year I have booked on Thursday, but starting to think about Wednesday again confused

Any preferences here?

Went down on the Wednesday for the first time last year (having done a Friday evening run the year before, which was rubbish - the weekend was far too short).

Pluses:

- you see more of the test / qualifying sessions
- Wednesday evening is nice and quiet and lots of places are more accessible than on the Thursday or during the race itself, e.g. the balcony of the big restaurant which overlooks the end of the pitlane
- Thursday is a nice opportunity to potter about and go to the museum, etc.
- You get to sort out the campsite plots without having any 'discussions' with the clowns who have tried to take over part (or even all) of your pitch
- it just makes the weekend seem more relaxed, because you're not trying to cram everthing in quite so much

There weren't as many cars travelling down, but there were still a reasonable number on interesting cars.

There's a fair few heading down on Weds, check the crossing list.

I guess the convoy threads will start soon.

Thursday morning to monday you see the night-time qualifying thursday and have a great last night. Did wednesday to monday once but it was too long. Personal choice.

Wednesday to Sunday. I'll be on duty for the practice/qualy sessions so have always done this.

Except a couple of years back we did a couple of days touring around Northern France afterwards - Very nice if you have the time.

Maybe he just likes leaving work, driving to the ferry, getting some beers in, sleeping it off, waking up in France.

Must be my age, starting to want some comfort on the trip wink I have also had to switch to a tent I can stand up in rather than a tiny coffin type thing.

Richard, yes the 355 subject ot organising it back on the road, servicing , tyres etc
