Last minute decision....

Me and the girlfriend have decided at the last minute to atleast make the start and most of the saturday of this years Le Mans.

Camping isn't required as we've got a place a couple of hours drive away, the only question I have is, is it possible (and easy) to buy tickets on the gate?

We'll probably be doing Portsmouth to Le Havre on the Friday morning....anyone else on that route?

You might have a bit of a queue to buy tickets if you don't get to the circuit til Saturday, but you wont have any problems.

If you don't want to queue for tickets...

Ferry arrives Le Havre @12:45. You don't say which side of Le Mans you are a couple of hours but if you can get there and then to Le Mans in say 4/5 hours you could get to the circuit, buy tickets, find somewhere to park car on one of the tram routes, tram to centre for drivers parade/food, drive home...

For tickets, check out the sticky at the top of this section or loads of Gen Ad tickets for sale on Ebay. No queuing and arsing about when you get there then.

Hmmmm, just had a look on the official site and it doesn't look like you can get a ticket for just the saturday.

Sunday or weekend only.

You are travelling to arguably the best motorsport event in the world and a weekend ticket costs only about £50 and you are moaning?

Who said I was moaning! I'm used to being able to buy a saturday ticket in the UK for events, I've not been to an endurance race before so I hadn't thought too much about it, sorry.

Why would you only want a Saturday ticket anyway? Race starts at 3pm Saturday. Most of it is on Sunday!

We were going over anyway as we have to cut the grass (lost our gardener!) Then we realised that Le Mans is the same weekend so we thought we'd give it a try.

GF can only get one day off, the Friday, so we thought it made more sense to watch the start and have an easier journey back on Sunday instead of a mad dash.

There are other races earlier in the day before the main event. If you compare the weekend ticket for the 24H to F1, it's a bargain, but it is a weekend ticket because it spans Sat/Sun, and people go into the track on Sat but don't leave until Sun.
