Cars also running in FIA GT ?

A few of the cars look familiar from the FIA GT1 championships - e.g. the Young Driver AM DBR9, the Matech Ford GTs. Are they actually the same cars, or are the ACO & FIA regulations still different enough that teams have to have different cars for each series ?

Same cars. The ACO have allowed the FIA GT1 World Championship cars into the series.

Same the GTR's aren't there, it's so nice to see a bit of variation in the field with the GT's, the Shaguars and the Beemers.

Wise move by the teams not to enter, in my opinion. The GT1 World Championship cars are not endurance cars in the main. The grandfathered cars are, obviously, very close but the new cars, I'd be very concerned of durability.

Doesn't stop them entering that damm Lambo every year, one year they'll make sunset let alone sunrise.

The Lambo is there on merit having won the Asian Le Mans series, so it's a totally legit entry this year. Exactly the same can be said for the Jaguar which is utterly woeful, and has a driver that is arguing the toss about having to do his mandatory 10 rookie laps.

I think the GTR teams played a wise card.

The cars may be there on merit, but, the ACO can still refuse entry if they believe the team/car will not show very well - disrepute etc. If the Lambo does crap this year, i don't think winning Asia LM will help them for 2011.
