I'd be interested to hear feedback on the Porsche Club campsite this year (considering it for next year) - any views, chaps?

Well little big horn comes to mind, a camp site in the middle of a camp site not a good venue IMO .
My car grounded out when leaving not happy. No signs to site nothing at all not down to PCGB something that needs to be looked into

Plus points are

Great people to camp with, Robin &Jo were very good at meet and greet etc, food excellent veg burgers next time please. Not far to the corner of the track to walk.

Good to see a few more kids there as well.

Thanks for that - where was it this time, as apparently it has moved from last year?

Also, what's the demographic there - lots of families/more mature crowd, or people partying through the night?

The new site is inside Beauséjour, across from the old one we had live music etc.

A nice BBQ, few families more mature crowd but people of all ages but nothing OTT.

Great people to camp with, and safe and sound for you and your car 24 Security as well which is great.

My interpretation of it all.

Didn't like the site within a site....
Didn't like the Wed night entertainment, I was knackered and the dutch thought it hillarious to pound it out till 4:00am.
Didn't like the lack of showers, has been better.
was further to walk than before, if going to the circuit, or concert.

plus points

Bigger pitches than before. much better.
Food was pretty damn good, touch pricey, but only a touch, good variety and quality was all there.
Pretty friendly bunch, all willing to talk about anything and nothing.
Security was pretty good, no interlopers allowed.
Walk to Porsche curves was a stagger away.....
Parking and pitches organised pretty well.

Pluses:
Catering was a huge umprovement on previous years
The marquee didn't leak
The viewing area was much better
Nice to have some entertainment thrown in (the guitar guys, not the DJ!)

Minuses:
Too few toilets & showers
Cold showers
The site within a site thing did make it feel like we had circled our wagons to keep the barbarian hordes out

In general I thought the positives outweighed the negatives. My best Le Mans yet.

Plus points

Food a thousand times better.
Welcome from Jo etc was great
View of traffic better than old site
24hr security guard
Bigger plots
Site was at end of track - no through traffic

Bad

DJ Derek on Wed night was bad!
Showers - very poor sanitation
Bordering camps were too lively - although I don't know how that could be resolved.

I believe under new management. I think they will get there.

In summary, if it wasn't for the Porsche site I would nPlus points

With regards to the change of who runs it. What I heard last year was the PCGB were being dicks and basically told Bob who ran it and had been running it for years to bugger off, which is bang out of order in mine and many other peoples opinion, there was a petition signed. Anyway its ran by travel destinations now.

I really enjoyed it this time and I think it was the best PCGB site so far.

The food and drink service was good quality and very efficient, great viewing spot, and good people.

As other people have said, it was a little strange being fenced off in the centre of another site, but at least it was secure.

Biggest let down was the cold showers, but if thats all I can find to whine about I think thats a pretty good weekend ! Oh and that tw*t driving the backwards and forwards along the site at 3.30am on the little motorbike - but there is always one !

Probably my 20th trip to Lemans (I've lost count !) but my first time as a guest with PCGB. I thought the facility was excellent. I know a few had complaints about the showers and toilets but I was told the original equipment had fallen off the truck and this was a replacement.

All in all in my opinion a first class set up. Noisey neighbours sure, but you can get that in a 5 start hotel!!

Above all the organisers gave us a friendly welcome and were enthusiastic and polite the whole time.

Well done PCGB, I,d love to come back.

Hi all, stayed on the camp from Friday till Sunday,my only gripe is the fact that we couldnt find the site but apart from that we were impressed with the running of the site and would like to thank all who helped to put this trip together.
There will always be people who will pick but from my point of view if a crisis happened it was dealt with quickly and efficiently.
The showers were fine, clean and generally empty at 4am.
The food was better than could be expected and was always served with a smile.
Camp site did not flood after the mother of all storms.
A fun friendly site with the added excitement that one of drunks would fall of there motorbike and crash through your tent at 3am! what more could you ask for?

Book me down for 2011

so you'll now that travel destinations always had it not pcgb as was always maintained?

probably not worth flogging this particular dead horse on ph but there was an awful lot of politics and some mahooosive ego's that took a tumble before that decision was made

'nuff said from me anyway....

Second time with PCGB.
Big negative for me was the quarter of a mile of of road driving that had to be done to get there, if I'd took the RR no compaints but in a low Ferrari it was a total nightmare. I really wish we had been informed of this prior to the event... The site itself was very well run, friendly welcome and the food was a massive improvment on last year, the view of the track was pretty good too! Would I use PCGB again, yes but only if the site they used was more practical for the type of cars there members tend to drive.

View of track was certainly better.

Here's a shot - taken on an entry level DSLR.
